Plan at a glance
A standalone evening performance
The Dingsheng Dynasty: Kangxi Grand Ceremony (《鼎盛王朝·康熙大典》) is staged in a dedicated theatre at Dingsheng Culture Industrial Park, Yuanbaoshan Scenic Area, Shuangluan District, Chengde. The theatre gate is the entrance. Yuanbaoshan, live horses and the mountain scenery are part of the show, so plan it as a separate evening activity.
Showtimes and seating areas
The promoter’s ticket page currently lists a 2026 season from April 18 to October 18, with a first show from 19:40 to 20:50 and a second from 21:20 to 22:30. A third show, 22:50–00:00, is listed as dependent on bookings. Dates and schedules can change; check the ticket page for your date. Reference listed prices are CNY 288 for Area A, CNY 198 for Area B and CNY 588–1,888 for VIP; promotions and available sections vary. Area A faces the stage, Area B is to the sides, and VIP offers closer or more comfortable seating.
What to expect
One performance has a capacity of about 3,007 people, and tickets may be limited in peak season. This is a large outdoor production with music and visual effects, suited to visitors interested in horses, a mountainside stage and special effects. If you expect a conventional play with a detailed plot, adjust that expectation before booking.

Choose your visit
Yuanbaoshan as the stage backdrop
The show uses Yuanbaoshan as a natural backdrop, combining the mountain, lighting and stage in the viewing area. Rows in the middle or toward the back of Area A can show both stage details and the full mountain setting. Choose between a closer view of the action and a wider view of the scene.
Mulan Hunting and “Tianxia”
The opening “Mulan Hunting” sequence features galloping horses and has some of the most immediate movement. The finale, “Tianxia,” includes a Manchu–Han Imperial Feast and Buddha figures on the mountainside. For a shorter viewing plan, prioritize these two sequences, but the ticket is for a full performance, not a set of separate attractions.
Who will enjoy the show
The performance suits visitors who enjoy large-scale staging, Qing-dynasty themes and outdoor productions. Families can also watch the live horses and changing mountain scenes together. It takes place outdoors at night in a mountain setting; consider the cold, young children and weather sensitivity before booking.
Build your day
A 1.5–2-hour visit
Work back from the showtime on your ticket and reach the entrance at least 30 minutes before the performance. The promoter’s current page lists the first show at 19:40. For a quick visit, focus on the opening Mulan Hunting and the finale, Tianxia, then leave after the show. Confirm showtimes and any additional performance for your date; follow announcements at the venue.
A 3–4-hour visit
Arrive at least an hour early and explore Yuanbao Street (元宝街) outside the theatre before entering at the time shown on your ticket. After the performance, leave through the theatre gate and take a bus or taxi back to the city. Allow time for a meal, transfers and the late return before planning another activity.
Seating and devices
The middle and rear rows of Area A offer both close-up action and a broad view of the mountain. Area B looks at the stage from the side; VIP seats are closer or more comfortable. Put devices away during the show, as continuous filming can disturb you and nearby audience members. Follow the venue’s current photography rules.
Get there
Bus to the theatre
In the city, take bus 5, 15, 25 or 35 and get off at Yuanbaoshan stop (元宝山站), then follow the signs on foot to the theatre. The show ends late, so arrange a taxi option for the return trip as well.
Driving and parking
Navigate to “Dingsheng Culture Industrial Park, Yuanbaoshan Scenic Area, Shuangluan District, Chengde” or “Dingsheng Dynasty Kangxi Grand Ceremony Theatre.” The park has free parking, but spaces are tight in peak season. Arrive at least 30 minutes before showtime to park and reach the entrance; follow the parking-exit signs after the show.
Food near the theatre
Yuanbao Street has snacks and simple meals before or after the performance, but its businesses may close before the show ends. For a full dinner, consider Qingyuanheng or Erxianju in the city, and allow time for both the trip to the theatre and the late return.
Know before you go
Keeping warm at night
Temperatures can drop noticeably at night on Yuanbaoshan. A light down jacket or shell is more useful than a single long-sleeved layer. Military-style coats may be available to rent, but bringing your own is easier. The open-air seating involves a long stay outside, so carry your warm layer with you before entering.
Weather cancellations
Rain, snow or other severe weather may lead to a last-minute cancellation; advance notice is not guaranteed. Check the forecast and the day’s performance arrangements before leaving. Handle ticket changes, refunds or rescheduling only through your booking channel and venue notices, and keep an alternative plan in case the show is cancelled.
Tickets and leaving after the show
Tickets must be booked using a valid ID document; enter each audience member’s details accurately when booking. A Chinese ID card allows faster entry. Visitors without the original ID card, including overseas visitors with passports, may use the staffed gate with an ID-card photo, social security card, driver’s licence or passport. Book in advance through the promoter or a reputable channel. Weekends and public holidays are busier, and taxi queues and road traffic can delay the return after the show.
