There is a walk from the scenic-area entrance to the main gate tower. You can walk or take the sightseeing car.
Use the easy core route
The easy route is the French-style building, Friendship Gate tower, Zuofu Mountain Battery, then back to the entrance.
Add Jinjishan only if you want more climbing
If you have more energy, add Jinjishan Battery. It needs more uphill time and suits visitors interested in border history and higher views.
Follow border-area photo rules
Friendship Gate is a border area, so carry identification. Do not photograph military facilities, border-control buildings, or officers on duty.
✦Friendship Gate is not a place where you can casually cross the border. Exit procedures or Vietnam day trips require separate documents and group arrangements.
✦Battery areas may close earlier than the main scenic area, so do not enter too late if you want to climb them.
✦The border area can be very sunny in summer. Bring water for walking between the gate tower and battery areas.
✦If you want to shop, take your time in Puzhai or Pingxiang city instead of buying too much inside the scenic area.
✦If you also plan Huashan Rock Art on the same day, check the Huashan boat schedule first, then decide whether Friendship Gate fits better in the morning or afternoon.
