How to Visit

Treat it as a long border-area trip
Detian Transnational Waterfall sits near the border in Daxin County, far from central Chongzuo. Driving or hiring a car is easier. If using public transport, first check tourist buses from Chongzuo South Railway Station, Chongzuo Tourist Distribution Center, or Daxin routes.
Tip:Do not treat it as a quick city-side attraction.

A normal daytime adult ticket is usually CNY 80. A package with the sightseeing bus is usually CNY 110. Bamboo rafting, the uphill magic carpet, glass walkway, slide, and night tour cost separately.
Tip:The waterfall core area is still some distance from the visitor center, so first-time visitors should use the sightseeing bus.

Start close to the water
A smooth route is to take the bamboo raft close to the waterfall first, then walk along the Guichun River path for border markers and frontier views, and finally go up to the higher viewpoints for the full China-Vietnam waterfall panorama.
Tip:This works better than climbing first and returning to the river afterward.

Choose the season and time carefully
The fuller water season is usually April to October, with June to September giving the strongest flow. In the dry season the waterfall is still visitable, but the view is less powerful.
Tip:For better water volume, put the main waterfall visit in the middle or later part of the day.

Separate the night tour
If you want the Wonderful Night Detian experience, treat it as a separate night-tour item. Combining daytime waterfall sightseeing, rafting, and the night show in one long day can be tiring.
Tip:Staying near Detian or Shuolong is better if you want both daytime and night experiences.

Insider Tips
✦The bamboo raft gets wet from spray, so put your phone, camera, and documents in a waterproof pouch.
✦There are many steps and wet sections inside the scenic area. Non-slip shoes matter more than photo shoes.
✦Do not confuse the cross-border cooperation zone with the normal waterfall visit. Cross-border programs involve booking, documents, and group rules; you cannot simply walk across on arrival.
✦During holidays, the visitor center, sightseeing bus, and bamboo raft can all have queues, so do not book your return ride too tightly.
✦Vietnamese snacks and specialties inside the scenic area are not always good value. Check prices before buying.
