How to Visit
1

Go to the formal viewing area

White-Headed Langur Ecological Tourism Area is for observing wild white-headed langurs, not a normal zoo visit. For a first visit, go to the formal Banli area ecological tourism zone instead of trying to find monkeys by yourself in the wider reserve.

Tip:Independent searching has a much higher chance of seeing nothing.
2

Visit when the monkeys are active

Adult tickets are commonly CNY 80, with concession tickets around CNY 40. The scenic area opens in the daytime, but the real factor is viewing time: early morning and late afternoon are better, while midday has a low success rate.

Tip:The ticket matters less than choosing the right observation window.
3

Avoid the hot middle of the day

Around 08:00-10:00 and 15:00-17:00 are better viewing windows. In summer the monkeys avoid heat and often rest higher up at midday.

Tip:Visitors who come at midday may only see empty hills.
4

Follow staff updates

After entering, follow staff guidance and real-time updates to the observation points. The sightseeing car saves energy and helps you reach areas near the monkey groups faster.

Tip:This is more reliable than choosing your own random viewpoint.
5

Leave patience in the day

White-headed langurs are wild animals, so close sightings are never guaranteed.

Tip:Avoid squeezing the visit between two tightly timed attractions.
Highlights
  • The white-headed langur is one of Chongzuo's most representative rare primates and has high value for wild observation.
  • The ecological tourism area is better for ordinary visitors than searching independently, because staff can help judge monkey locations.
  • From March to June, you may see infants, which makes the observation more interesting.
  • Karst hills, vegetation, and monkey activity combine here in a setting closer to nature than a zoo.
  • It suits families, nature photography, and ecology learning, not travelers who only want a quick check-in.
Insider Tips

Keep quiet. Do not feed, chase, or imitate calls to attract the monkeys.

Bring a telephoto lens or binoculars if you have them. A normal phone camera is usually not enough for clear photos.

Wear long sleeves, long pants, and non-slip shoes. There is plenty of vegetation, with mosquitoes and thorny plants.

If the weather is too hot or rainy, monkey activity may decrease. What you see depends on the day.

If visiting with children, explain in advance that this is wild observation, not animals behind glass.
