Go to the formal viewing area
White-Headed Langur Ecological Tourism Area is for observing wild white-headed langurs, not a normal zoo visit. For a first visit, go to the formal Banli area ecological tourism zone instead of trying to find monkeys by yourself in the wider reserve.
Visit when the monkeys are active
Adult tickets are commonly CNY 80, with concession tickets around CNY 40. The scenic area opens in the daytime, but the real factor is viewing time: early morning and late afternoon are better, while midday has a low success rate.
Avoid the hot middle of the day
Around 08:00-10:00 and 15:00-17:00 are better viewing windows. In summer the monkeys avoid heat and often rest higher up at midday.
Follow staff updates
After entering, follow staff guidance and real-time updates to the observation points. The sightseeing car saves energy and helps you reach areas near the monkey groups faster.
Leave patience in the day
White-headed langurs are wild animals, so close sightings are never guaranteed.
✦Keep quiet. Do not feed, chase, or imitate calls to attract the monkeys.
✦Bring a telephoto lens or binoculars if you have them. A normal phone camera is usually not enough for clear photos.
✦Wear long sleeves, long pants, and non-slip shoes. There is plenty of vegetation, with mosquitoes and thorny plants.
✦If the weather is too hot or rainy, monkey activity may decrease. What you see depends on the day.
✦If visiting with children, explain in advance that this is wild observation, not animals behind glass.
