Location and scenic-area boundaries
Hekou Scenic Area is in Hekou Village, Kuandian Manchu Autonomous County, about 60 km from central Dandong. The main entrance is near Hekou Broken Bridge. The core visit is the bridge, riverside scenery and local Hekou cruises. This is a different destination from Yalu River Broken Bridge and the city cruise in central Dandong.
Shanghekou Guomen, the Railway Museum and Music Road require a separate transfer from the Hekou Broken Bridge area. They are not at the same entrance, and their tickets and opening arrangements are not covered by a Hekou Broken Bridge ticket.
Ticket prices and open areas
The reference ticket for Hekou Broken Bridge is CNY 30; a local boat trip is about CNY 50, and tickets are generally available on site. Reference seasonal hours for Hekou Broken Bridge are 08:00–17:00 from May 1 to October 7, and 09:00–16:00 from October 8 to April 30 of the following year. Confirm the dates and actual opening arrangements in the scenic area's notice for the day. Other sites, including the pier and border gate, have their own opening arrangements.

Hekou Broken Bridge and local history
Hekou Broken Bridge is on the riverbank in Hekou Village and was formerly called Qingcheng Bridge. The nearby site where the Chinese People's Volunteers crossed the river is close by, and three bridge piers remain in the water. Visitors interested in border history can walk along the bridge and riverbank. This is separate from the Yalu River Broken Bridge in central Dandong.
Boat trips and seasonal scenery
A local cruise in Hekou offers a view of the river from the water and requires a separate ticket. Its route and cancellations depend on the Hekou pier's arrangements for the day. Hekou Village has peach orchards; blossom and autumn peach availability vary by year, weather and harvest season, so neither is guaranteed for a fixed date.
For a separate Great Wall visit along the Yalu River, see Hushan Great Wall.
Build your day
Short visit to Hekou Broken Bridge
Walk from the Hekou Scenic Area entrance to Hekou Broken Bridge and allow about one hour. If you want to take a local cruise, buy a separate ticket at the pier and confirm the day's route, boarding time and any suspension. Do not use the city cruise's prices or timetable for Hekou.
Plan Hekou and Shanghekou as separate stops
For more riverside history, first visit Hekou Broken Bridge and the nearby crossing site, then drive to Shanghekou Guomen and the Railway Museum. Music Road can be a separate stop along the way. Navigate to each place separately and allow time for both the visits and transfers; these are not walking stops within one scenic area.
Confirm the entrance, tickets and opening hours separately for Hekou Broken Bridge, Shanghekou Guomen and the Railway Museum. Visit and transfer times depend on traffic and operating arrangements, so do not rely on one total duration for the whole route. Arrange the return transport to Dandong once you know how you will get back.
Get there
Driving, charter car and public transport
Hekou is about 60 km from central Dandong. Driving or hiring a car reduces transfers. Search for Hekou Scenic Area and use the active ticket entrance near Hekou Broken Bridge as the day's destination.
Ask at Dandong Bus Station about services toward Kuandian, and confirm before boarding whether a bus stops at Hekou Town and when the return service runs. Until the outbound and return times are confirmed, public transport is not a good basis for a tightly scheduled day trip.
Know before you go
Tickets, blossom season and return travel
Check the day's actual hours before leaving. Tickets for the bridge and local cruise are separate. Confirm operations and ticketing separately for Shanghekou Guomen and the Railway Museum.
Peach blossom timing changes with the weather each year; the trees are not guaranteed to be in full bloom during the May Day holiday. If blossom is the reason for your visit, check the current year's conditions before setting out. Public transport is infrequent and the last return service has not been confirmed, so arrange a return bus ticket or charter car in advance.
Food in Hekou Village
Food options in Hekou Village include Baoping Big-Pot Fish, Wansao Fish Restaurant and Zhang Family Roast Duck. Wansao serves river fish; during peach season, ask the restaurant whether Yanhong peaches are available. Check the restaurant's hours and menu for the day.
