Location, tickets and hours
Fenghuang Mountain is on the southern edge of Fengcheng, Liaoning. Search for Fenghuang Mountain Scenic Area (丹东凤凰山景区) and make sure the destination is the visitor entrance in Fengcheng, not another mountain with the same name. Sights are spread across the mountain. Visitors can choose among a classic cable-car-assisted route, a lower-effort route that avoids Laoniubei, and a longer panoramic circuit. All three require some walking, and several sections involve steep paths or exposed heights. Scenic-area transport is part of the longer circuit.
The 2026 peak-season notice lists an admission ticket at CNY 80 and half-price tickets for students and visitors aged 60–69. Hours are 06:30–17:30, with entry ending at 16:00. Check the attraction's notice for the day; off-season hours need separate confirmation.
How much time to allow
The classic cable-car-assisted route takes about three hours according to the 2026 notice. Allow 3–4 hours in practice. A lower-effort route that avoids Laoniubei takes about two hours, while the longer panoramic circuit takes around 5–6 hours and includes some scenic-area transport. Queues and the operating status of the glass walkway, zipline, Black Wind Pass walkway and glass suspension bridge can add time.

Choose your visit
Laoniubei and the ridge
Laoniubei is a narrow natural granite ridge. Visitors hold the chains and follow the marked direction across it. The path is exposed and queues can form; visitors with a fear of heights or who are not comfortable on a narrow climb should choose a route that avoids this section.
Walkway and glass attractions
The glass walkway and glass suspension bridge are separate attractions. The 2026 peak-season notice lists a CNY 5 glass-walkway experience fee and CNY 50 for the glass suspension bridge. Follow the current attraction rules for shoe covers and any charge for them.
Hiking sights
Fenghuang Cave, the Skywalk, Baibu Jin (Hundred-Steps Pass), Arrow-Eye Peak and other sights lie along the hiking routes. The longer panoramic circuit covers more of the mountain and takes about 5–6 hours, including some scenic-area transport. Fitness and comfort with heights affect whether this route is suitable.
Build your day
Classic cable-car and shuttle route
From the ticket office, take the scenic-area shuttle to Phoenix Square and then the cable car uphill. Continue via Rabbit-Ear Peak, Laoniubei, the glass walkway and Arrow-Eye Peak, then take the zipline toward the Black Wind Pass walkway and glass-bridge area. From Rhododendron Slope, take the scenic-area shuttle back to the ticket office. The 2026 peak-season notice lists the zipline at CNY 40 and this route at about three hours; allow 3–4 hours, with extra time for queues or changes to attraction operations. Check whether the zipline is running and follow the on-site directions for an alternative if you do not ride; do not assume there is a walking bypass.
This route reduces some uphill walking, but Laoniubei, the glass walkway, the Black Wind Pass walkway and the glass bridge still include narrow, exposed or elevated sections. The cable car does not make the route level or remove exposure to heights. Follow the day's notices and staff directions for the last cable-car service and any temporary closures.
Lower-effort route avoiding Laoniubei
For companions who should avoid Laoniubei and steep climbs, the 2026 notice lists this alternative: take a shuttle or the Shanyincheng cable car from the ticket office to the ticket checkpoint, continue to Phoenix Square, then take a shuttle to Rhododendron Slope. Walk the open section of the Black Wind Pass walkway and the glass suspension bridge, return to Rhododendron Slope and take a shuttle back to the ticket office. Allow about two hours.
This route avoids Laoniubei but still includes elevated experiences. The Black Wind Pass walkway and glass suspension bridge may not suit visitors with a fear of heights. Decide whether to visit them based on the day's open sections, and allow time for shuttle rides and queues.
Long panoramic circuit and return
The 2026 notice lists a 5–6-hour panoramic route. From the ticket office, take a shuttle or the Shanyincheng cable car to the ticket checkpoint and Phoenix Square. Continue past Fenghuang Cave, the Skywalk, the beacon tower, Luohan Peak, General Peak, the upper cable-car station, Rabbit-Ear Peak, Diecui Peak, Laoniubei, the glass walkway, Tianxia Jue, Arrow-Eye Peak, the zipline, the Black Wind Pass walkway, the glass bridge, the Old City walkway, the Old City Wall and the Lovers' Valley suspension bridge. Return to Phoenix Square and take a scenic-area shuttle to the ticket office. Check which stops are open and when the last shuttle runs; a published route does not guarantee passage through a section that is temporarily closed.
Rocks are slippery after rain. Do not enter hazardous sections; if you have reached Laoniubei or Baibu Jin, follow on-site instructions to turn back safely. Shuttles and cable cars reduce uphill walking, but the route still includes narrow and exposed sections.
Get there
High-speed rail, bus and driving
The high-speed train from Dandong to Fengcheng East Station takes about 20 minutes. A taxi from the station to the attraction costs around CNY 20–30. In Fengcheng, local buses including route 10 can reach the attraction; check the current stops and departure times for the day.
By car, search for Fenghuang Mountain Scenic Area (丹东凤凰山景区) and confirm that the destination is the visitor entrance in Fengcheng, not another attraction with the same name. Parking is listed at around CNY 10 per visit; follow the posted price on site.
Know before you go
Fitness, footwear and open sections
Wear non-slip shoes and take extra care on wet rock after rain. Narrow sections such as Laoniubei can become crowded on holidays. Gloves can make it easier to hold the chains, but they do not replace an honest assessment of your stamina and comfort with heights.
Confirm off-season last services, cable-car closure conditions and the alternative route when Laoniubei is closed. Glass attractions and exposed paths may close because of weather or on-site management; check the day's notice even after buying a ticket.
Food in Fengcheng
Lingxia Farmhouse is about 50 metres from the scenic-area entrance. In Fengcheng, other options include Yicheng Yiwei, Haoma Wang Dumpling City and Hongyun Mutton Soup Restaurant. Travel to Dongtang Hot Springs requires a separate transfer; check the road time and hot-spring closing time after your mountain visit.
