How to Visit

Enter through the west gate and choose between a daytime or night visit
Go to Nanshe Village, Chashan Town, and use the west gate near the car park and ticket check. The daytime adult ticket is CNY 30 and the student ticket is CNY 15. Night admission generally runs 17:30-22:00 and costs CNY 25. Tickets can be bought on site or online in advance.
Tip:Nanshe has two distinct experiences: daytime architecture and evening lighting. Decide your arrival time first, so you do not buy the wrong ticket or miss the main visiting period.

Follow the route of Xie Clan Ancestral Hall, Baishou Archway, the pond and Qingfeng Bridge, then side lanes
From the west gate, start with Xie Clan Ancestral Hall and Baishou Archway, then continue around the old pond, Qingfeng Bridge, and surrounding Ming- and Qing-period lanes. If available on the day, add activities such as indigo dyeing or rubbing. Allow 2-3 hours.
Tip:The main ancestral hall, archway, and pond create the clearest route through the village. Completing these first reduces the chance of getting lost among similar-looking lanes.

Slow down in the lanes and leave the main street for quieter side alleys
Walk carefully on uneven stone paving. After the busier main street, explore lanes near the Baishou Archway or pond, but do not enter closed homes or block residents' doorways for photos.
Tip:Nanshe is still a village with daily life and businesses. Smaller lanes are better for observing details, but residents and other visitors need clear passage.

Use daytime for architecture and night admission for a shorter route with a safe return plan
Daytime is best for ancestral halls, brick carving, and lane details. If visiting in the evening, follow a shorter route around the pond and lantern-lit areas, and arrange return transport in advance.
Tip:Evening is about lighting and reflections, not a guarantee that every building can be seen well. A clear short route is more reliable than repeatedly looking for directions in darker lanes.
