How to Visit

Make Shajiao Fort a separate stop and complete its separate booking
Shajiao Fort is in Shajiao Community, Humen Town. Admission is free, but book Shajiao Fort through the Opium War Museum booking channel. A taxi from Humen Railway Station is usually more direct than bus transfers.
Tip:It is not a walkable neighbour of the Naval Battle Museum or Weiyuan Fort. Although it belongs to the same Humen coastal-defence route, it needs its own travel and entry time.

Enter through the main gate and follow the order of vessel, guns, waterfront battery, and estuary
Start with the retired naval vessel and artillery pieces, continue to the waterfront battery and related defensive works, then make a short stop by the Pearl River Estuary where access is permitted. A normal visit takes around 1-1.5 hours.
Tip:This order places modern military equipment and Qing-era coastal defences in one clear sequence, without repeated walking around the compact site.

Travel by vehicle between Shajiao Fort, Weiyuan Fort, and the Naval Battle Museum
If visiting several sites in one day, complete the Naval Battle Museum and Weiyuan Fort first, then take a taxi to Shajiao Fort. Do not attempt to join them on foot based on straight-line map distance.
Tip:Roads, the coast, and transport infrastructure make the real walking route much longer than it appears. In hot weather, this can drain energy and cause you to miss final admission.

Finish the historic site within opening hours and make late light optional
Enter early enough in the afternoon to see the fortifications and exhibits first. If time remains, use an accessible area for a short view over the Pearl River Estuary and fishing boats, then leave according to the day's closing arrangements.
Tip:The fort is exposed and has little food or transport nearby in the evening. Do not delay your return solely for photographs.

✦Shajiao Fort requires a separate booking from the other museum areas. Confirm that your booking is for Shajiao rather than the Naval Battle Museum or main museum.
✦The site is compact and can be completed in around an hour. It works best with other Humen sites rather than as a full-day destination.
✦There is no large car park at the entrance. Drivers should arrive early and use only permitted on-site parking, without blocking roads or nearby access routes.
✦The waterfront, gun platforms, and paths have strong sun exposure. In summer, bring sun protection, drinking water, and insect repellent.
✦Food and supplies nearby are limited. On a combined route, plan meals in Humen town or at the next stop rather than relying on finding food around the fort.
