Location and entrance
Caoshan Scenic Area is in Chenfang Village, Fenggang Town, Yihuang County, Fuzhou. The main entrance is the Caoshan Scenic Area Visitor Center. Caoshan Baoji Temple is the core of the scenic area. Yihuang is a relatively remote county, so plan Caoshan as a separate half-day or full-day trip rather than a short walk from central Fuzhou.
Tickets and hours
Admission is free with an ID card, and the temple's indoor sights are also free. Opening hours are 08:00–17:00, and there is currently no special visitor cap. If you plan to visit the temple and the surrounding paths, finish the visit before 17:00.

Taking the sightseeing vehicle from the visitor center to the temple, seeing the main halls, and returning takes about 1 hour. Walking uphill and visiting Baoji Temple, the Pagoda of Master Benji, and the ginkgo tree takes about 2–3 hours. Caoshan Baoji Temple
Caoshan Baoji Temple is the core temple of the scenic area and is associated with the Caodong school and Master Benji. Its main buildings use a Tang-style architectural approach. Visitors interested in Zen history, temple architecture, or quiet gardens can focus on the main hall, covered walkways, and courtyards.
Master Benji's pagoda and the ginkgo tree
The Pagoda of Master Benji is inside the temple and is a key site connected with the founding teacher of the Caodong school. Behind the temple stands an old ginkgo said to have been planted by Master Benji himself. Both are within the temple's walking area and fit naturally after the main halls.
The surrounding agricultural-zen spaces
Agricultural Zen Town is near the scenic area, with lawns, cabins, and farm restaurants. Camping and food services depend on that day's operation. It can be a rest or extension stop outside the temple; whether Equestrian Town is open and suitable for children also depends on the day.

Driving
Navigate to the Caoshan Scenic Area Visitor Center. Driving takes about 50 minutes from central Fuzhou and about 2 hours from Nanchang. The visitor center has free parking; after parking, walk or take the sightseeing vehicle uphill to the temple.
Public transport
First travel to Fuzhou Railway Station, then transfer by coach or taxi to Yihuang County seat. Buses from the county seat to the scenic area are infrequent and their times are unstable, while a taxi gives you more control over the return. Yihuang has no metro, so public-transport visitors should settle the connections to and from the scenic area before reaching the county seat.

The current reference fare for the sightseeing vehicle from the visitor center to the temple is CNY 10 one way, and the walk takes about 20 minutes.
