Choose a base before choosing sights
Zengjia Mountain is spread across villages, forests, caves, meadows, and karst sites. Stay around Zengjia Town or the main resort area if you are not self-driving.
Tip:The area is too spread out for random point-to-point travel.

Pick two or three main stops
For a first visit, combine a karst cave or sinkhole stop such as Chuandong Tiankeng with an easier forest or meadow area such as Yuanyangchi or Diaotan River.
Tip:Trying every sub-site makes the day mostly driving.

Use a car for the mountain roads
Self-drive or a hired car gives the most control. Some roads are winding, and navigation can route through slower mountain sections.
Tip:Allow extra time rather than planning tight transfers.

Zengjia Mountain is known as a summer retreat, but caves, forests, and evenings can be cool. Bring a light jacket even in summer.
