How to Visit
1

Plan it inside the central scenic area

Nanyue Memorial Hall is inside the central Mount Hengshan scenic area and does not sell a separate ticket. Plan it as a daytime stop within the mountain route.

Tip:Do not treat it as a separately ticketed foothill attraction.
2

Use scenic-area transport from the visitor center

Take scenic-area transport from the visitor center and get off at the memorial stop. Walking from the lower entrance can take close to an hour.

Tip:Use the vehicle stop if you want to preserve time and energy for the memorial grounds.
3

Follow the central-axis sequence

Walk from the memorial archway through the July 7th Memorial Tower, Memorial Hall and Anting Battle Memorial Pavilion to the Xiangtang Hall. Read the steles and tomb information at your own pace.

Tip:Allow 60-90 minutes for the site itself.
4

Observe memorial-site etiquette

Keep your voice low, avoid disruptive posing or photography, and follow any posted guidance on dress, photography or acts of respect.

Tip:This is a solemn memorial to Chinese soldiers who died during the Second Sino-Japanese War.
Highlights
  • A memorial park dedicated to Chinese soldiers killed during the Second Sino-Japanese War, best approached at a quiet pace.
  • The sequence of archway, memorial tower, memorial hall and Xiangtang Hall creates a complete commemorative setting.
  • The July 7th Memorial Tower is the site's most recognisable landmark.
  • The Memorial Hall, Xiangtang Hall and stone inscriptions record the stories of wartime soldiers.
  • Pine and cypress trees around the tomb area reinforce the quiet atmosphere expected at a memorial site.
Insider Tips

Check same-day site controls before setting out, especially during severe weather or temporary scenic-area restrictions.

Do not treat Nanyue Memorial Hall as a separately ticketed foothill attraction; its transport and entry arrangements are tied to the central scenic area.

There are many steps. Wear comfortable shoes with good grip, especially in wet weather.

Avoid large-group peak periods if possible, and allow time to read the inscriptions and pause quietly.

When visiting with children, briefly explain that this is a place of remembrance for people who died in the war, then keep the visit respectful and restrained.
