How to Visit
1

Plan it as an optional side route near East Peak

Yaozi Fanshen is near East Peak and leads toward the Chess Pavilion. It is not a main route that every visitor needs to use.

Tip:It suits visitors with steady stamina, upper-body strength, balance, and confidence around exposed mountain routes.
2

Confirm opening and reservation after reaching the main peak area

The route usually requires safety equipment and is affected by same-day sessions, capacity, weather, and staff management.

Tip:If queues are long or your descent time is approaching, protect your main route and cableway connection first.
3

Secure your belongings before entering

The route requires facing the rock wall, holding chains, and finding footholds on the stone surface. Large backpacks and handheld items make movement harder.

Tip:Fix your phone, camera, and water bottle before starting, and avoid taking items in and out while climbing.
4

Move with the route rhythm, then return

Some footholds are not easy to see directly, so wait for the person ahead to move before following carefully.

Tip:Do not rush others, and avoid turning back for photos in narrow sections.
5

Count the return effort after reaching Chess Pavilion

The pavilion has open views, but you still need to return by the route arranged on site.

Tip:Do not estimate the effort by the outward section only; the return and later descent also take time.
Highlights
  • A representative cliffside side route near East Peak, leading toward the Chess Pavilion.
  • The route features movement close to the rock wall, hand-and-foot coordination, and body turns.
  • Compared with the Plank Walk, its experience is less about open space and more about climbing movement and foothold judgment.
  • The Chess Pavilion area has wider views, but reaching it requires suitable physical condition.
  • Best treated as an extra East Peak experience, not something to add when rushing through the mountain.
Insider Tips

The usual requirements are height above 160 cm, age 15-55, and good health; follow the current rule enforced on the day.

Visitors with weak upper-body strength, unstable knees, strong fear of heights, low blood sugar, cardiovascular disease, or high blood pressure should assess carefully.

The narrow route has limited capacity, so queues can be long. Avoid placing it just before the last cableway window.

Non-slip shoes and light gloves are useful. Large bags, long skirts, and loose accessories make movement less convenient.

Rain, snow, strong wind, ice, or poor visibility may lead to closure or crowd control. Follow staff instructions and adjust your route.
