Location, entry and opening hours

Hejiang Tower stands at No. 40 Shuidong West Road, where the Dong River meets the Xizhi River. The southeast gate is the most convenient main entrance from Shuidong Street. The first-floor exhibition hall and the eighth-floor viewing platform are free to enter by QR code or ID card, without a reservation.

The exterior can be viewed all day. The first-floor exhibition hall and eighth-floor platform are normally open from 10:00 to 18:00, with the lift stopping at 18:00; they are closed on Mondays except public holidays. To see sunset from above, complete entry before 17:30.

How to fit it into your day

Allow one to one and a half hours to visit the exhibition hall and look over the meeting of the two rivers from the eighth floor. It fits best into an old-town late-afternoon route, followed by dinner and night views in Shuidong Street.

Choose your visit

Short tower visit

Southeast Gate → first-floor exhibition hall → lift to the eighth-floor viewing platform → ground-level square. Visit the displays, look over the two rivers and cityscape, then photograph the exterior from the square.

Old-town half-day route

Visit Dongpo Temple in the morning, go to Dongjiangsha Park around 17:00 for sunset, visit Hejiang Tower from around 16:30 to 18:00, then continue to Shuidong Street and Yedao Cultural Life Community. This schedule respects the exhibition and viewing-platform hours while keeping the evening walk intact.

Night-view route

Dongjiangsha Park → exterior and riverside views of Hejiang Tower → supper in Shuidong Street → Dong River boat ride. If you want the eighth-floor view, go up before the lift stops, then remain around the square and riverfront for the lights.

Build your day

Tower visit order

Enter from the southeast gate, begin with the first-floor displays on Hejiang Tower and Su Dongpo, then take the lift to the eighth-floor viewing platform. The platform looks over the meeting of the Dong and Xizhi rivers and towards the city and Wenbi Pagoda across the water.

From sunset to night

Go up around 16:30 and come down before 18:00. After 19:00, photograph the illuminated building from the square and riverbank. This gives you the upper viewpoint without missing the night scene outside.

Connection to Shuidong Street

Walk from Hejiang Tower to the main entrance of Shuidong Street for dinner, arcade views and a riverside stroll. With more time, visit Dongjiangsha Park for sunset before returning to the tower.

Get there

Public transport

It is about a 10-minute drive from Huizhou Station or West Lake East Station. Buses stopping at Hejiang Tower Station or Shuidong Street Station leave only a short walk to the entrance.

Driving

Use Hejiang Tower Parking Lot or the A3 underground car park at Shuidong Street Commercial City. The latter charges CNY 10 for the first hour, CNY 5 per additional hour and has a CNY 60 daily cap. On holidays, parking outside the old-town core and walking in is usually easier.

Know before you go

Lift and closure restrictions

The lift to the eighth-floor viewing platform stops at 18:00, so do not arrive after dark expecting to go up. When the exhibition hall and platform are closed on Mondays, the exterior square and riverbank remain useful for views of the building and its night lighting.

Weather, crowds and photography

The platform and riverbank are exposed to sun, wind and mosquitoes, so bring sun protection, insect repellent and a light layer for the evening. Weekday late afternoons are calmer; weekends and holidays can be busy at the viewing platform. The building lights are most useful for photographs from 19:00 to 21:30.
