Gorge entrance and pace
Manghe Ecological Tourism Area is in Manghe Village, Manghe Town, Yangcheng County, Jincheng. The usual entrance is the Manghe Ecological Tourism Area Visitor Centre. The area is known for stream gorges, waterfalls, caves, and wild Taihang macaques. Allow about 1.5–3 hours; the complete path can take about 3–4 hours.
Visitors usually take a sightseeing vehicle from the Visitor Centre into the main visiting area. A round trip is about RMB 30; whether the vehicle must be purchased and how it operates follow the ticketing arrangement on site. Manghe's gorge, water-side paths, and macaque safety rules are separate from Xicheng Mountain's alpine meadow, caves, and high-altitude equipment needs.
Tickets and opening
The high-season adult ticket is about RMB 60 per person, with half-price student tickets; the sightseeing vehicle round trip is about RMB 30 per person. No reservation is normally required, and tickets can be bought online or on site. Ticket prices, whether the sightseeing vehicle is required, and concession terms follow the ticketing information for the day.
High season generally begins in March or April and runs through October, with hours around 08:00–18:00. Low season generally runs from November into February or March, with hours around 09:00–17:00. Exact seasonal dates follow the scenic area's current notice. There is no clearly fixed weekly closing day, but entry may be managed during busy holidays.

Macaque area, waterfalls, and caves
Wild Taihang macaques are often active around the Macaque Park, on roads, rocks, and walkways. This is a chance to observe wild behaviour, not a visitor-contact performance. Keep distance and manage your belongings at the same time.
Huanglong Waterfall is one of the area's larger stepped waterfalls. Water Curtain Cave has a sheet of water falling across its entrance, while Emerald Pool is a green, calcified pool. Manghe Source is where the stream emerges from a cave. These stops are linked by the stream-side path.
Water-side walking and photography
Huanglong Waterfall suits wide waterfall and spray photographs. View Water Curtain Cave from outside the falling water, and use Emerald Pool for water and reflection images; flow and light affect the scene. The path is relatively gentle, and families can stop briefly at shallow water, but wet rocks and changing water levels require constant attention.
Manghe works well for families, nature observation, and photography, as well as visitors who prefer less climbing. The complete route still involves stream-side walking. Xicheng Mountain's wolf's bane, meadows, and unmarked caves are not Manghe attractions; tickets, sightseeing vehicles, and safety rules are separate.
Build your day
About 1.5–2 hours: short route
Buy the ticket at the Visitor Centre and take the sightseeing vehicle into the attraction. Walk the main path in the order of Macaque Park, Huanglong Waterfall, and Water Curtain Cave, then return the way you came. This route puts macaque observation and two representative water sights first, and suits a half-day stop or visitors who should avoid a long walk.
Macaque locations, waterfall flow, and the open range at Water Curtain Cave follow the path guidance for the day. Return to the Visitor Centre by the sightseeing vehicle after the walk. Stay out of deep water, and keep children with an adult throughout the water-side sections.
About 3–4 hours: complete route
Take the sightseeing vehicle to the internal boarding terminus, then follow the stream path back through Macaque Park, Huanglong Waterfall, Water Curtain Cave, Emerald Pool, and Manghe Source. This sequence moves from macaques to the stepped waterfall, water curtain, green pool, and stream source. After Manghe Source, follow the signs back to the vehicle or exit.
The longer route is mainly a stream-side walk, so slow down when your soles are wet. The café, photo points, and water-access spots depend on what is open that day. Check the last sightseeing vehicle and boarding points after entering.
Get there
Driving and the Visitor Centre
The drive from central Jincheng takes about 1–1.5 hours along the Taihang No. 1 Road. Navigate directly to “Manghe Ecological Tourism Area Visitor Centre.” Park and buy the ticket at the Visitor Centre, then choose the sightseeing vehicle or walking route available that day.
There are many bends in the mountain road, and rain can change the surface and visibility. Slow down while driving. Cars cannot enter the stream path; after parking, use the sightseeing-vehicle arrangement for the day and return to the Visitor Centre parking area.
Public transport
From Jincheng Coach East Station, take Tourist Line 2 to Manghe. The current unified fare is RMB 1. Check departures, stops, and return service in the bus notice for the day. Within Yangcheng, the final connection follows the local bus service for the day; after reaching Manghe Town, you still need to arrange the last section to the Visitor Centre.
Public-transport visitors should coordinate the last sightseeing vehicle with the service leaving Yangcheng, since taxis in the mountains may be limited. Manghe can be paired with Xicheng Mountain on neighbouring days or visited separately after an urban Yangcheng itinerary; the two attractions do not share a sightseeing vehicle.
Know before you go
Macaque safety
Wild macaques may grab food and bags. Put snacks, plastic bags, and small items inside your bag; do not hold food, reach out, tease them, stare directly into their eyes, or chase them for photographs. Keep your distance and keep children with an adult. If macaques approach, secure your bag and pass according to staff instructions.
Macaque locations change from day to day. Do not make close contact a reason to visit or an expected experience; observe from a distance instead. Tidy your clothes and backpack before entering the macaque area, and do not eat while walking or leave bags hanging outside your pack.
Water, insects, and supplies
Stones near streams, waterfalls, and pools are slippery. Stay in shallow water or on open banks where water access is allowed, and do not enter deep water. Water level, flow, and path access can change after rain. The mountains have many insects, so wear light-coloured long sleeves and trousers, use insect repellent, and carry an anti-itch balm.
Farm restaurants at the entrance may serve Yangcheng stir-fried pancakes, wild vegetables, and small river fish, at about RMB 40–50 per person. Bring water and simple food before entering, keep food secure in the macaque area, and do not leave plastic packaging beside the stream.
Tickets, photography, and the return
The adult ticket is about RMB 60, with students paying half price; the sightseeing vehicle round trip is about RMB 30. Low- and high-season hours and online ticket prices follow the notice for the day. Photograph waterfalls, the cave entrance, Emerald Pool, and Manghe Source only from the open path; do not cross barriers or approach dangerous water.
If you need the sightseeing vehicle that day, check the last departure and stops after entering. Both the short and long routes return toward the Visitor Centre. Public-transport services for the return are limited, so arrange the Yangcheng or Jincheng connection before leaving.
