Plan at a glance

Bottom entrance and relationship with Wangmang Ridge

Xiyagou Tourist Resort is in Xiyagou Village, Guguo Township, Lingchuan County, Jincheng. The usual entrance is the Xiyagou Visitor Centre. Xiyagou is often included in a Wangmang Ridge itinerary, but the bottom paths and village visit have their own admission boundaries and transport arrangements.

From the Visitor Centre, walk about 1 kilometre along the main road to Longtan Waterfall and Red Rock Grand Canyon. The short route takes about 1–1.5 hours. Add a hanging-road sightseeing ride, stream path, and rest stop for about 3–4 hours. The light bottom hike has a different pace from Wangmang Ridge's summit views.

Tickets and opening

Some bottom areas of Xiyagou are free and usually do not require a reservation. The hanging road, sightseeing service, viewing facilities, and specific paths operate within the day's opening hours. If entering as part of Wangmang Ridge, the Wangmang ticket and package including transport and cableway are about RMB 150–180; students and visitors aged 60 or above may receive concessions. Check whether a transport combination is required and which stops it includes on the ticket for the day.

Wangmang Ridge's high-season hours, April to October, are 08:00–18:00. The hanging road, sightseeing transport, viewing facilities, individual paths, and bottom parking at Xiyagou follow the day's organization. Traffic control may be introduced on weekends and public holidays.

Choose your visit

Hanging road and Red Rock Grand Canyon

Xiyagou's hanging road is cut into the cliff. When the sightseeing bus passes through, visitors can view the gorge through the windows and roof “skylights.” This is a vehicle-based experience, not the same as the bottom walking path. Red Rock Grand Canyon is formed from red sandstone; its U-shaped walls and stream road create upper and lower viewpoints.

Longtan Waterfall drops nearly 100 metres, and its flow may be stronger after rain. The viewing platform across from the falls is suited to a wide view; a low-angle view from below is possible only within the open boundary. The stream, bridges, red rock, and distant mountains make good subjects for a slow walk, with photography kept to fixed viewpoints.

Bottom paths and time to linger

The bottom path follows the stream and is relatively gentle, making it suitable for cooling off, canyon photography, and a short family walk. Stay in shallow water and on open banks in areas where water access is allowed. A café near the waterfall can be a short rest stop on the longer route; its opening follows the day.

Visitors can shorten or extend the bottom route according to their interest in the hanging road, waterfall, or red-rock landscape. Those who want both summit and bottom scenery can choose the Wangmang Ridge connection. Xiyagou's free bottom content and Wangmang Ridge's cableway and summit ticket are calculated separately.

Build your day

About 1–1.5 hours: bottom short route

Enter at the Xiyagou Visitor Centre and walk about 1 kilometre along the main road to Longtan Waterfall and the nearby Red Rock Grand Canyon viewpoints. Pause there, then return to the Visitor Centre the way you came. This route does not include Wangmang Ridge's summit or the hanging road, and suits visitors who only want the waterfall and gorge.

Use the open stream-side path. The waterfall flow, viewing platform, and water-access area follow the safety notice for the day. After returning to the Visitor Centre, continue to the car park or village restaurants; free bottom access does not make parking or food free.

About 3–4 hours: linked route

From Wangmang Ridge's summit, take the sightseeing bus downhill and view Xiyagou's hanging road from the vehicle. Get off at the Xiyagou Visitor Centre for a break, then follow the stream path to Longtan Waterfall and see Red Rock Grand Canyon along the way before returning to the Visitor Centre. This order places the hanging road on the downhill ride and the bottom path after arrival.

If you drive only to the Xiyagou Visitor Centre, follow the bottom short route and do not assume Wangmang Ridge's summit transport or cableway is free. At the end of the linked route, return to the vehicle at Wangmang Ridge, the Xiyagou car park, or your accommodation according to the ticket and the day's dispatch.

Get there

Driving and parking

Navigate to “Xiyagou Visitor Centre” or “Wangmang Ridge Wolongchang Ticket Centre.” The Xiyagou Visitor Centre has a car park, but spaces are limited. On holidays, you may need to arrive early or park at the Wangmang Ridge uphill car park according to the scenic area's directions; the connection between the two parking areas follows the traffic organization for the day.

Use a clearly marked official parking area and confirm the charge before parking. Buy tickets and transport through the scenic area or a legitimate platform. Check Xiyagou and Wangmang Ridge parking, admission, and transport items separately; do not base the itinerary on a cheap bundled offer.

Public transport and the link

From Jincheng Coach East Station, take Tourist Line 5 toward Wangmang Ridge. The current unified fare is RMB 1. Wangmang Ridge is the public destination named for the line; continuing to Xiyagou requires the scenic transfer or self-drive arrangement available that day. Check the bus schedule and return service in the day's notice.

Driving can go directly to the Xiyagou Visitor Centre. Public transport works better when Wangmang Ridge and Xiyagou are planned together. Check the applicable areas of the Wangmang admission ticket, cableway, sightseeing transport, and Xiyagou's free bottom paths separately, then leave from the actual vehicle or bus stop.

Know before you go

Roads, tickets, and water flow

“Free Xiyagou” refers to some bottom areas. If you enter from Wangmang Ridge's summit by sightseeing bus, cableway, or other scenic transport, a Wangmang Ridge ticket or package may still be required. The RMB 150–180 package is a current reference only; check whether it includes the hanging-road ride, cableway, and sightseeing service on the ticket.

The bottom path, hanging road, viewing platforms, and sightseeing service do not share one opening schedule. The hanging road is affected by traffic, weather, and controls, while Longtan Waterfall changes with rainfall. Follow the safety boundaries at the bottom path, platforms, and area below the falls, and do not run on wet stone.

Time, food, and photography

Food quality and serving speed in the gorge can be uneven, so carry a small amount of food and water. The café beside the waterfall is convenient for a break, but its opening and taste follow the on-site situation. At the stream, stay briefly in shallow water or on designated banks, keep children close, and do not enter deep water.

The hanging road is best photographed from the sightseeing bus; remain seated and do not lean out of the window or roof opening. The platform across from the waterfall suits a wide view, while the gorge path is good for bridges and stream scenes. Follow the paths and barriers, and keep a safe distance from slippery water edges.
