Park scope and opening periods
Along the River During the Qingming Festival Scenic Area is in Hengdian Town, Dongyang, Jinhua, Zhejiang. It is an independent theme park whose main entrance is the South Gate, Gate 1. Its main attractions are Song-style streets, waterways, bridges and evening activities, and it opens later than daytime palace parks.
Reference hours are 10:00–22:00 in the summer season from May to September, with last entry at 21:00, and 10:00–21:30 in the winter season from October to the following April, with last entry at 20:30. The season, weather and operations can affect the actual time, so confirm the day’s notice before buying a ticket and entering.
How much time to allow
A quick visit takes about 2–3 hours. Allow half a day if you want to see the daytime buildings, the lights at dusk and the evening activities scheduled for that day. The park suits visitors interested in historic streets, bridge-and-water scenery, traditional-style photography and live performances, as well as families who are happy to arrive in the afternoon and adjust their stay to the day’s programme.
Walking inside the park is relatively straightforward, but crowds concentrate when visitors leave after the evening programme. If you are also going to Qin Palace Scenic Area or Dream Valley, include the time for queuing, leaving and entering another park under its separate rules.

Rainbow Bridge, Shangshan Gate and Fan Tower
From Rainbow Bridge, you can look over the streets and water on both sides of the Bian River and understand the park’s layout from above. Shangshan Gate and the street buildings are best explored slowly during the day, with attention to the gate towers, shopfronts and layered lanes. Fan Tower is one of the taller buildings in the park, and the streets look different before and after the lights come on.
The waterways, bridges and Song-style streets distinguish this park from Qin Palace. Visitors interested in architecture and photography can spend time on the bridges, riverside paths and lane details without adding every evening activity to the schedule.
Evening activities and interactive programmes
The park may schedule live water shows, theatre performances, character interactions or night lighting activities. The content, timing and weather-related changes should be checked on the day’s programme after entry. Outdoor activities may pause because of rain, wind or operations; buying a ticket does not guarantee a particular performance.
If you want evening activities, enter in the afternoon, see the daytime scenery first and then choose from the on-site programme. If you mainly want buildings and photographs, you can complete the main route during the day without extending the visit to wait for a night programme.
Build your day
A 2–3 hour daytime route
Enter through the South Gate, Gate 1, follow the main streets to Shangshan Gate, then continue to the area around Rainbow Bridge and Fan Tower before leaving through the exit. Stop by the waterways and lanes for photographs; the park is mainly explored on foot, so you do not need a vehicle for short internal distances.
This route suits visitors with limited time, groups that do not want evening activities or travellers who need to transfer to another park. Confirm the next park’s entrance and ticket-check time before leaving. Even in the southern area, a short distance still means entering another park again.
A half-day daytime-to-evening route
Enter in the afternoon and first see Rainbow Bridge, Shangshan Gate and the riverside streets. At dusk, return to the water or theatre area and choose one evening activity from the day’s programme. Queuing and reserving places between programmes cannot be fixed in advance, so choose only the activity you most want to see.
If the park is crowded, finish the buildings and streets first, then decide whether to stay for the evening programme. Crowds may gather at night, so confirm the ride-hailing pick-up point or the transfer route to the next park in advance.
Connecting with Qin Palace and Dream Valley
Along the River During the Qingming Festival Scenic Area is close to Qin Palace and Dream Valley, and walking between them may be possible at some times. The three parks have separate tickets, entry checks, attractions and opening periods. Confirm that the next park is still admitting visitors before transferring rather than deciding only from the map distance.
For a same-day combination, this park usually fits best in the afternoon and evening, but the final order should follow the day’s programme, weather and your group’s stamina. If you do not have a specific evening activity in mind, leaving earlier to rest at your accommodation is also a sensible option.
Get there
High-speed rail, light rail and transport within Hengdian
From Yiwu Station, reaching Hengdian by bus transfer or taxi usually takes about one hour. From Jinhua Station or Jinhua South Station, take light rail to Ming and Qing Palace Station, then transfer to a bus or taxi. Once in Hengdian, navigate directly to “Along the River During the Qingming Festival Scenic Area, Gate 1” or its parking area instead of searching around Hengdian Town.
If you are coming from Qin Palace, walking may be possible along the day’s open route. With large luggage or travellers who tire easily, a ride-hailing car gives you more control over the drop-off point. The entrances to this park and Dream Valley are different, so follow the next park’s signs after transferring.
Driving and parking
Drivers can navigate to the Gate 1 parking area. Note the car’s position before entering the South Gate. If you are moving to another park that day, first understand the time needed to collect the car and return to the parking area.
Holiday traffic often concentrates when visitors leave at night. If you plan to stay for the evening activities, confirm the ride-hailing pick-up point and direction of your accommodation in advance, and leave extra time for calling a car after the final programme.
Know before you go
Programmes, weather and ticket checks
Water shows, outdoor performances, character interactions and night lighting may change with the weather, season or operating arrangements. Take the day’s programme after entry, confirm the last-entry time and the activities you want, and only then decide whether to queue. Some outdoor arrangements may be cancelled in rain.
Summer and winter have different last-entry times, so do not rely only on the closing time. If you are transferring from another park, recalculate the time using this park’s own ticket-check rules.
Walking, leaving at night and supplies
The park is mainly explored on foot. Wear comfortable, non-slip shoes and bring water and a small snack. Daylight and night lighting create different conditions for photographing bridges, water and streets; watch your footing near the water and do not cross barriers or enter closed areas.
Food inside the park is usually expensive, so decide whether to eat inside according to your route. After an evening programme, crowds and vehicles gather. Groups with children or older adults should agree on a meeting point in advance and keep enough time for leaving and returning.
