Plan Hengdian World Studios with practical guidance on choosing parks, transfers, tickets, walking and return transport.

Plan at a glance

Decide which parks you are visiting

Hengdian World Studios is in Hengdian Town, Dongyang, Jinhua, Zhejiang, and consists of several independently operated theme parks. Each park has its own entrance, ticket checks and opening hours. When buying a ticket, check exactly which parks it covers and whether each park allows only a limited number of entries.

Hengdian works best when you choose parks deliberately rather than trying to compress every attraction into one walking route. Qin Palace Scenic Area, Along the River During the Qingming Festival Scenic Area and Dream Valley are relatively close in the southern area, while Ming and Qing Palaces Scenic Area, Guangzhou Street and Hong Kong Street Scenic Area, Hengdian New Yuanming Palace and Hengdian Dream Bund Resort require separate transfer planning.

How much time to allow

One day is enough if you choose only one or two parks. Seeing both the southern and northern areas usually takes two days. The parks are about 1–7 km apart, and walking 20,000 steps in a day is not unusual. Consider your group’s stamina and return transport before choosing the parks.

Hengdian suits visitors interested in filming locations, traditional-costume photography or live performances, as well as families who are comfortable splitting the visit across several days. If anyone in your group cannot walk for long periods, choose a smaller park and leave time for breaks and the return to your hotel.

Choose your visit

Choose parks by theme

Qin Palace Scenic Area focuses on palace axes, stairways and Qin- and Han-themed sets. It suits visitors who want large-scale architecture and indoor attractions. Along the River During the Qingming Festival Scenic Area focuses on Song-dynasty streets, waterways and evening activities: see the buildings during the day, then decide whether to stay for the evening programme after checking the day’s schedule.

Ming and Qing Palaces Scenic Area is very large, with palace groups and a central axis suited to photography and slow walking. Guangzhou Street and Hong Kong Street Scenic Area opens in the afternoon, so its streetscapes, lights and live activities fit better later in the day. Dream Valley focuses on seasonal water attractions, rides and evening performances; check the season and the height or weight limits for your group before adding it to the plan.

What type of itinerary works

On a first visit, you can put Qin Palace Scenic Area and Along the River During the Qingming Festival Scenic Area on the same day. Finish the daytime park first, then decide whether to continue into the evening based on your stamina and the day’s programme. The two parks are close, but they still have separate ticket checks, so allow time for queues, walking and the transfer.

With two days, you could spend one day in the southern area with Qin Palace Scenic Area, Along the River During the Qingming Festival Scenic Area and Dream Valley, then choose Ming and Qing Palaces Scenic Area or Guangzhou Street and Hong Kong Street Scenic Area for the other day. Hengdian New Yuanming Palace, Hengdian Dream Bund Resort and Pingyan Cave Mansion each have their own entrance and visiting logic, so plan them separately rather than moving back and forth simply to add more stops.

Build your day

A one-day southern-area combination

Start at Qin Palace Scenic Area in the morning to see the palaces, stairways and indoor attractions. Transfer to Along the River During the Qingming Festival Scenic Area in the afternoon, beginning with Rainbow Bridge, Shangshan Gate and the street areas. Then decide whether to stay into the evening based on the day’s opening arrangements. Add Dream Valley only if its water world is operating, your group can use the relevant attractions and everyone still has enough energy.

This combination covers three independent parks. Follow each park’s own entrance, ticket-check and programme arrangements. Being close enough for a walk or short transfer does not mean that one ticket covers all three or that there is a guaranteed continuous route between them.

A two-day area-by-area visit

You could group Qin Palace Scenic Area, Along the River During the Qingming Festival Scenic Area or Dream Valley on the first day, then choose Ming and Qing Palaces Scenic Area, Guangzhou Street and Hong Kong Street Scenic Area or Hengdian New Yuanming Palace on the second. Ming and Qing Palaces Scenic Area is large, while Hengdian New Yuanming Palace is divided into Spring Garden and Summer Garden; calculate walking and dwell time for each separately.

Opening hours across Hengdian change with the season and operating arrangements. Check the day’s opening time, last entry and programme before setting the order. If a popular attraction or performance has a long queue, drop one stop and protect your return time.

If you only have half a day

Half a day is better spent in one park. Avoid switching repeatedly between Qin Palace Scenic Area, Along the River During the Qingming Festival Scenic Area and Ming and Qing Palaces Scenic Area. First check the park’s size and entrance location, then decide whether your time is best used for buildings, attractions, photography or evening activities.

If you need to catch a train or return to accommodation in Jinhua or Yiwu, confirm your ride-hailing or shuttle arrangement before leaving the final park. The parks are not far apart, but holiday traffic and crowds can make a short transfer take much longer.

Get there

High-speed rail, light rail and transport within Hengdian

From Yiwu Station, a common way to reach Hengdian is to transfer to a bus or take a taxi; the journey is about one hour. From Jinhua Station, you can take light rail first, then transfer to a bus or taxi around Ming and Qing Palace Station. Yiwu Station generally has more train services, but include the final leg into Hengdian when choosing your arrival station.

Once in Hengdian, use a ride-hailing car or an on-site shuttle that is officially available that day to move between parks. Give the driver the exact entrance name for each park rather than entering only “Hengdian World Studios” and deciding where to get off after arrival.

Driving and parking

When driving, navigate directly to the parking area for the specific park you plan to visit. If you are combining Qin Palace Scenic Area, Along the River During the Qingming Festival Scenic Area and Dream Valley, first check the parking options in the southern area, then follow the day’s open walking routes and entrances.

Ming and Qing Palaces Scenic Area is very large, so parking near the entrance does not remove the need for substantial walking inside. Whether an official sightseeing vehicle or rental service is available depends on the day. Confirm your parking position, vehicle collection time and the direction of your return from the final park before entering.

Know before you go

Combination tickets, opening hours and programmes

Hengdian commonly sells multi-park passes or combination products, but check their coverage, number of entries and conditions for each park one by one. Opening hours change by season. Daytime parks such as Qin Palace Scenic Area and Ming and Qing Palaces Scenic Area do not follow the same schedule as streetscapes that open in the afternoon.

Live performances, night lighting, interactive activities and water attractions may change because of weather, the season or operating arrangements. Do not shorten another park’s visit for a programme that has not been confirmed. Use the day’s programme and on-site notices after entry.

Walking, spending and returning

Most Hengdian parks involve a lot of walking. Wear shoes suitable for long periods on foot and with good grip, and carry water and a small amount of food. Food choices and prices vary between parks, so you do not need to tie your meal plan to one particular restaurant.

People near stations and parks may actively solicit vehicle, photography or costume services. If you are interested, confirm the price, service scope and any extra charges first. If not, decline and continue along confirmed entrances and public roads.
