Plan at a glance
Check shore conditions before crossing to the island
Bijiashan Scenic Area includes a north-shore area and an offshore island, linked by a natural sand-and-gravel tidal causeway about 1.62 km long. The causeway is usually uncovered twice a day for around 1–2 hours, but you may walk across only when the scenic area has opened the route and safety staff permit passage.
Tickets and opening times
Adult admission is CNY 65 in peak season and CNY 40 in the off-season. Students with valid ID receive half-price admission, and visitors aged 70 or over enter free. Buy online or at the entrance. The reference opening time is about 08:30–17:00; rough seas or bad weather can cause a temporary closure. Call 0416-3577315 before you go to ask which areas are open, when ticket sales stop, and how island transport is operating.

The tidal causeway and island temples
The causeway is the main experience here. At low tide, it emerges from the water and links the north shore with Bijiashan Island. If walking across is not permitted that day, you can still view the causeway and the island’s three peaks from the north shore; check the day’s notice to see which shore areas remain open.
Lüzu Pavilion, Wumu Palace and Sanqing Pavilion
The island’s uphill route passes buildings such as Lüzu Pavilion (吕祖亭), Wumu Palace (五母宫) and Sanqing Pavilion (三清阁). From the permitted areas, you can look at their stonework, the views from the island’s summit and the changing coastline. Check the day’s signs before entering any building and follow the scenic area’s access arrangements.
Build your day
Short visit: about 3–4 hours
At the north shore, confirm whether the causeway is open for walking, when the tide will change, whether boats are running and how you can return. Cross only if the scenic area’s safety conditions allow it. On the island, follow the main uphill path at a comfortable pace and visit the temple areas that are open. Return by the causeway only if it is permitted, or by a boat service operating that day.
Longer visit: about 5–6 hours
Allow extra time to explore the island’s uphill paths around Lüzu Pavilion, Wumu Palace and Sanqing Pavilion. The 5–6-hour estimate covers the whole visit; your actual time will depend on walking pace, causeway access and the return service available that day.
Confirm access and your return before crossing
The causeway being visible, the water being shallow or other visitors walking across does not mean the full route is open. Before crossing, ask the scenic area about that day’s walking window, open sections and return options. Boats may also stop in rough conditions. If you cannot confirm a safe way back, or only the north shore is open, stay in the permitted shore area and do not walk through the water. If a route closes while you are on the island, follow staff instructions back to an open area.
Get there
Two arrival options: Jinzhou and Jinzhou South stations
A direct coach service is listed from Jinzhou Railway Station (锦州站) to Bijiashan; the reference fare is CNY 6 and the journey takes about an hour. From Jinzhou South Railway Station (锦州南站), you can transfer to a local bus or take a taxi; a taxi is about CNY 40. Check the service dates and return times with the operator on the day of travel, then plan around the actual timetable.
Driving and parking
Set your map destination to “Jinzhou Bijiashan Scenic Area” (锦州市笔架山风景区), at No. 1 Bohai Street (渤海大街 1 号). There is a car park. After parking, walk from the entrance to North Shore Square. Check the posted signs for the parking fee.
Know before you go
Causeway surface and sea safety
The causeway is made of sand and gravel, with slippery patches of moss in some places; the island also has steps. Tide information and access controls are posted near the causeway, so follow the safety staff’s directions and wear shoes with good grip. There is little shade on the island on sunny days, so bring a hat and sun protection. Do not enter the causeway or hazardous shoreline when the tide is rising, staff have closed the barrier, or the sea is rough.
Boat fares and service
A one-way speedboat fare is listed at CNY 15. Check the pier notice for that day’s operating hours and ticket arrangements.
Water and food outside the attraction
Food on the island is relatively expensive, so bring water and a small snack. Liaoxi Fisherman’s Wharf (辽西渔人码头) and nearby seafood restaurants are outside the scenic area; you will need a separate drive or pickup to reach them.
