Gates, ticket and opening hours

Kaifeng City Wall has two common access points. Daliang Gate is better for the layered-city ancient horse road and cross-section displays, while Anyuan Gate is close to Wansui Mountain and suits a longer cycling or walking route. An adult ticket costs CNY 37.9. A Wansui Mountain combination ticket may include city-wall entry, and the Kaifeng Tourism Annual Pass costs about CNY 60–90. Opening hours are roughly 08:00–22:00, subject to the sections open and the ticket arrangements for the period.

Suggested visit length

Allow 30–60 minutes at Daliang Gate for the ancient horse road, wall cross-section, and short glasses-free 3D films. From Anyuan Gate, allow 2–3 hours to cycle or walk to Daliang Gate and descend there. For a sunset visit, climb at Daliang Gate before sunset and allow 1–2 hours for the lit-up city view.

City-over-city archaeological section

Around Daliang Gate, you can see the layered-city ancient horse road ruins and wall cross-sections from different historical periods. A glass walkway helps show the layers. The glasses-free 3D films Ancient Horse Road (《古马道》) and A Dreamlike Daliang Gate (《微梦大梁门》) use images to explain the Yellow River floods and changes to the city. Whether they are open follows the day's arrangements.

Cycling on the wall

The wall is about 14.4 kilometres long, and its open sections suit cycling or walking. The attraction may offer shared e-bikes for use on the wall; vehicle numbers, rental points, and open sections change with on-site conditions. For a long route, prepare both a walking plan and a cycling plan.

Who will enjoy this visit

The city wall suits visitors interested in Kaifeng's defences, layered-city archaeology, and urban views, as well as visitors who want an outdoor cycle ride. Daliang Gate focuses more on historical displays; Anyuan Gate works better when including the Wansui Mountain area in a longer route. The two access points serve different sightseeing purposes.

Build your day

A 30–60 minute Daliang Gate route

Climb at Daliang Gate. See the layered-city ancient horse road ruins and wall cross-section first, then watch Ancient Horse Road or A Dreamlike Daliang Gate, and descend by the same gate. This short route suits visitors with limited time who want an introduction to Kaifeng's city-wall history.

The Daliang Gate tower and the Kaifeng-character wall are useful photography points, and the tower offers views along Kaifeng's urban axis. Leave through Daliang Gate after the short route and arrange onward travel using the roads outside the wall.

A 2–3 hour Anyuan-to-Daliang route

Climb at Anyuan Gate near Wansui Mountain, then cycle or walk along the wall sections open that day to Daliang Gate before descending. The long route involves substantial outdoor movement. Vehicle rental, continuity of the open sections, and the descent point all follow the on-site arrangements.

If no rental vehicle is available, adjust the route to walking speed. If time is short, finish the core open section between Anyuan Gate and Daliang Gate instead of extending into a closed section.

A 1–2 hour sunset route

Climb at Daliang Gate before sunset. See the gate tower and old-city views first, then watch the city lights come on and look towards Millennium City Park and Wansui Mountain. Sunset time, night-access sections, and visibility change with the season and weather. Descend at Daliang Gate and confirm transport outside before leaving.

Get there

Public transport and gate choice

Public buses reach the Daliang Gate or Wansui Mountain stops. Use Daliang Gate when you want the short history route; use the Wansui Mountain stop for a long walk or cycle beginning at Anyuan Gate. For a taxi, use “Daliang Gate” or “Anyuan Gate” as the exact city-wall destination.

Moving between the gates

Daliang Gate and Anyuan Gate are separate access points. After a long route, you still need to walk or take a vehicle from the descent point back into the city. A combination ticket does not move you between the gates or provide passage through the Wansui Mountain park.

Know before you go

Ticket combinations

The adult ticket is CNY 37.9. A Wansui Mountain combination ticket may include city-wall entry, and the annual pass costs about CNY 60–90. Whether a combination ticket includes entry on the day, which gate it covers, and how long it remains valid follow the ticket conditions at purchase. The city wall and Wansui Mountain are separate visitor spaces.

Open sections and rentals

Opening hours are roughly 08:00–22:00, but each wall section, film, night route, and rental service may have its own schedule. Whether a Hello shared e-bike for the scenic area is available and whether it can cover the full route must be confirmed on site. Keep a walking option available.

Night walking and return

The night route usually starts with a climb before sunset. Wind, steps, and lighting on the wall change with the weather and the sections open that day. Leave via the designated descent point and confirm the bus, ride-hailing, and walking directions outside Daliang Gate or Anyuan Gate in advance.
