Large-scale shows and water stages
Yue Fei Spear-Fights Little Liang Prince (《岳飞枪挑小梁王》) takes place at the Song Dynasty Training Ground and focuses on horse-war scenes. The Song Capital Defence (《大宋·东京保卫战》) is staged on the water near Jiulong Bridge, with boats and water effects. Iron Flower (《打铁花》) is usually an evening programme around Jiulong Bridge. Whether each show runs and how the sessions are arranged depends on the day's programme; collect the schedule after entering.
Bridges, gates and garden scenes
Rainbow Bridge (虹桥), Shangshan Gate (上善门), Dantai Palace (丹台宫), and Xi Wall (禧墙) work well between shows. Rainbow Bridge and Shangshan Gate offer views of the park's water and gate towers. Dantai Palace has a starry-sky dome, while Xi Wall is useful for Hanfu photography and architectural details.
Who will enjoy this visit
This is a good fit if you want live shows to anchor your Kaifeng itinerary, or if you are interested in Song-style architecture, Hanfu photography, or short family-friendly performances. If someone in your group does not want to queue for long periods, use a second day for Shangshan Gate, Rainbow Bridge, and Dantai Palace, then add the water puppets, cockfighting show, and craft activities.
Build your day
One-day show route
After entering, collect the day's programme near Yingbin Gate and build your route around the show locations. The schedule may include Yue Fei Spear-Fights Little Liang Prince at about 11:00, The Song Capital Defence at about 15:10, and Iron Flower at about 21:00. These times change with the day's arrangements and are not fixed daily sessions.
Go to the Song Dynasty Training Ground in the morning, eat at Tokyo Food Street around midday, and move to the waterside area southwest of Jiulong Bridge in the afternoon. In the evening, see the lights and fish-lantern procession near Rainbow Bridge, then go to Jiulong Bridge if the day's programme includes the show. Popular performances often require arrival 30–60 minutes early; the usable viewing area is controlled on site.
Two-day route for a slower visit
On day one, focus on Yue Fei Spear-Fights Little Liang Prince, The Song Capital Defence, and the evening programme, allowing time for queues and transfers between show areas. On day two, reduce the number of show chases: visit Shangshan Gate, Rainbow Bridge, Dantai Palace, and Xi Wall, then add the water puppets, cockfighting show, or craft activities according to what is open that day.
Millennium City Park and The Song Dynasty: Splendid Dreams of the Eastern Capital are sold separately. If you plan to see the evening headline show, confirm the show ticket, entry eligibility, and seat arrangement separately. A daytime park ticket does not include the headline show.
Food and return timing
Tokyo Food Street is convenient between daytime performances. If you plan to stay for an evening programme, include the walk out of the venue, the night-time exit, and your onward transport in the day's route. The end time of the last show alone is not enough to estimate when you will return to your hotel.
Get there
Public transport and entrance
Bus routes 1, 31, and tourist bus Y1 are options for reaching Millennium City Park. First-time visitors can use Yingbin Gate as the main navigation target. For The Song Dynasty: Splendid Dreams of the Eastern Capital, Jinshui Gate or New East Gate gives easier access to the performance area, but you still need to walk or take the park shuttle to the Jinglong Lake main stage after entering.
Parking
The park has Underground Car Park 1 and the Car Park at Gate 2. Parking costs about CNY 10 for 4 hours, with a CNY 20 cap. On public holidays, follow the traffic flow and parking entrance arrangements on site. The car parks are not at the same locations as Yingbin Gate or Jinshui Gate.

The daytime park ticket and the reserved-seat ticket for The Song Dynasty: Splendid Dreams of the Eastern Capital are purchased separately. Only visitors holding the corresponding show ticket may use the reserved seating area at the Jinglong Lake main stand. Charges and opening arrangements for shows, park shuttles, food, and other activities are handled separately. Any later park access included with the show ticket must be stated clearly at purchase.
