How to Visit
1

Treat White Pagoda as another old-city viewpoint

Langzhong White Pagoda is around Baita Mountain and is good for open views of the old city, Jialing River, and Jinping Mountain direction.

Tip:Like Jinping Mountain, it is a viewpoint, but White Pagoda is more about the tower-climb angle, with narrower space and more need for safety awareness.
2

Choose taxi access or a walking climb

The easiest option is to take a taxi or drive near White Pagoda Park, then walk to the base of the pagoda. If you want a light hike, you can also climb from the foot of the hill.

Tip:Walking up takes extra energy, so do not underestimate the return.
3

Slow down when climbing the pagoda

The internal staircase is narrow and steep, and it is not suitable for people to pass side by side.

Tip:Give way when going up or down, and do not stop for long photos inside the stairwell. If it is crowded or someone in your group dislikes heights, staying at the base for the view is also fine.
4

Go in the afternoon for better light

Afternoon or late afternoon light is softer, making the old-city rooftops, river surface, and distant hills look better.

Tip:Night views can also be attractive, but think ahead about downhill transport and walking safety.
Highlights
  • Another high point for seeing Langzhong Ancient City and the Jialing River.
  • The tower view feels more focused than a normal hilltop viewpoint and shows how the river wraps around the old city.
  • The Ming dynasty pagoda itself has historical character, not just a modern viewing platform.
  • Compared with Jinping Mountain, visitors are often more dispersed here, making it better for a quieter viewpoint.
  • It can be combined with nearby spots such as Zhuangyuan Cave and Dafo Temple, but you do not need to force every nearby stop into the route.
Insider Tips

Safety matters more than photos when climbing the pagoda. Do not go against the flow, stop, or crowd the narrow stairs.

Supplies on the hill are limited, so bring water.

If you take a taxi uphill, it may not be equally easy to get one back down. Check the walking route before you rely on it.

Do not force a tower climb in rain or after dark; both visibility and safety are worse.

If you have already visited Jinping Mountain and are short on time, choose one viewpoint rather than trying to cover both.
