Tip:This is not a closed attraction with one gate. Lanes are freely accessible, while individual venues and shops keep their own schedules.

Start in the old streets and explore the Four Streets and Seventeen Lanes slowly
The town is compact enough for a 1.5-3 hour walk. Start with the Ming- and Qing-era houses, brick and wood carvings, and the Bell and Drum Tower area, then turn into quieter lanes rather than stopping only on the main street.
Tip:People still live in some old houses. Do not enter courtyards or photograph residents at close range without permission.

Continue to the Yellow River ferry crossing and riverbank
Walk from the lanes toward the river for the old ferry crossing, riverbank path and the three-river confluence area. Late afternoon light works well for combining historic buildings and river views in one visit.
