Walk in from the Matang Station area. Lanzhou Old Street is a newly built themed commercial district, not an original historic neighbourhood. First walk the main street once to understand where the gateways, lanes, restaurants, and activity areas are, then decide where to spend time.

See the buildings before dark, then return after the lights come on

Arriving in the late afternoon lets you see the building details in daylight and the same streets under evening lighting. Note the gateways, corners, and elevated views you like on your first walk, then revisit them for photos.
