Treat it as a waterfall walking section, not one viewpoint
68-Step Waterfall is not a single large waterfall you see from one spot. It is a continuous series of small drops along the river valley. Walk through the section slowly instead of taking a few photos near the entrance and leaving.
Fit it into the main Xiaoqikong route
On the West Gate in and East Gate out route, it comes after Water Forest and before Laya Waterfall. If you enter from the East Gate, you will reach it after Xiaoqikong Bridge and Laya Waterfall. Follow the scenic-area route instead of backtracking just for this section.
Slow down for the different layers of water
The value here is the repeated small drops, stone beds, water sound, and tree shade. It works better as a slow walking section than as a search for one perfect photo spot.
Continue naturally toward Laya Waterfall
68-Step Waterfall and Laya Waterfall belong to the same waterfall section of Xiaoqikong. See this continuous drop-water route first, then continue to Laya Waterfall for the stronger spray and closer waterfall view.
✦Treat this as a waterside walking section and allow 40-70 minutes if you want to enjoy it properly.
✦On the West Gate in and East Gate out route, it sits after Water Forest and before Laya Waterfall. Follow the scenic-area flow instead of making a separate detour.
✦After rain, the water volume may look stronger, but the color can become less clear and the steps near the water can be slippery.
✦Wear non-slip shoes and avoid flip-flops or smooth-soled shoes. Older visitors and children should slow down here.
✦Keep your phone or camera protected near the water. Do not stand on wet stone just to get a better angle.
✦Do not use up all your time and energy here. Laya Waterfall, Xiaoqikong Bridge, and the East Gate exit are still ahead.
