Choose your entrance first
For a first visit, use the West Gate in and East Gate out route. It keeps the route mostly easier on the legs and lets you move from Wolong Pool toward Xiaoqikong Bridge in one clear direction.
Treat the sightseeing bus as necessary
Xiaoqikong is not a small walking park. The distances between Wolong Pool, Yuanyang Lake, Cuigu Waterfall, Water Forest, and Xiaoqikong Bridge are long enough that the internal sightseeing bus is part of the visit.
Follow the main route without stopping too long at every point
A practical route is: West Gate -> Wolong Pool -> Yuanyang Lake -> Cuigu Waterfall -> Water Forest -> 68-Step Waterfall -> Laya Waterfall -> Xiaoqikong Bridge -> East Gate. Plan 5-6 hours for a comfortable visit.
Decide early whether to boat on Yuanyang Lake
Yuanyang Lake is best for travelers who want a slower visit. Boating takes extra time and costs extra. Skip it if you also plan to visit Daqikong or Libo Ancient Town on the same day.
Save Xiaoqikong Bridge for the final section
Xiaoqikong Bridge is the name landmark of the scenic area and one of the busiest photo spots. Seeing it near the end keeps the route orderly and avoids letting the first crowd stop shape the whole day.
✦The current 2026 schedule starts entry at 08:00. Ticket sales stop at 16:00, and entry stops at 16:30.
✦Passport holders should allow extra time at the East or West Gate visitor center if the ticket booking requires manual pickup.
✦Libo Railway Station is about 15-20 minutes from the East Gate by taxi, bus, or scenic-area shuttle.
✦Sunny weather gives the clearest blue-green water. After heavy rain, the water can look muddier and some waterside paths become slippery.
✦Do not plan Xiaoqikong, Daqikong, and Maolan Forest all in one day. Xiaoqikong alone needs more than half a day.
✦Bring water and a small snack. Food options inside are uneven, and a proper meal is easier near the East Gate or in Libo County.
