Understand how Daqikong differs from Xiaoqikong
Daqikong and Xiaoqikong belong to the same Libo Zhangjiang scenic system, but they feel different. Xiaoqikong is about water color, waterfalls, and forest paths. Daqikong is about gorge scenery, boardwalks, boat access, and the natural stone bridge. Do not visit Daqikong expecting the same compact water views as Xiaoqikong.
Decide between boat access and walking
The Daqikong route is not difficult to understand. If you want to save energy, take a one-way boat into the gorge and then walk toward the natural bridge. If you have enough time and prefer walking, follow the boardwalk route instead. The boat is an add-on, not something every visitor must buy.
Make the natural bridge your main target
The natural bridge is the main reason to enter Daqikong. The gorge, river, and boardwalk are part of the build-up, so do not spend too long near the entrance. Keep enough time for the deeper gorge section and the natural bridge.
Decide whether to pair it with Xiaoqikong on the same day
If you finish a full Xiaoqikong route in the morning, Daqikong can work as a 2-3 hour afternoon add-on. If your group is already tired, do not force a full Xiaoqikong plus full Daqikong day. Daqikong works better at a slower pace than as a rushed checklist stop.
✦Allow 2-3 hours for Daqikong. If you only stay near the entrance, you will miss the natural bridge.
✦The boat is a one-way add-on when operating and is useful for saving energy. If you prefer boardwalk walking, you can skip it and spend more time in the gorge.
✦If you need to catch a train the same day, do not leave Daqikong too late. Returning to the East Gate, waiting for transport, and reaching Libo Station all need buffer time.
✦After rain, the gorge may have more water, but boardwalks and stone steps can be slippery. Wear shoes with grip.
✦Do not confuse Daqikong Ancient Bridge with Daqikong Scenic Area. The ancient bridge is more of a transport and place-name reference; the scenic-area core is the gorge and natural bridge.
✦If the full Xiaoqikong route has already tired your group, make Daqikong a short boat-plus-natural-bridge route instead of trying to walk every boardwalk section.
