How to Visit

Start in the Ping'an area
Nine Dragons and Five Tigers is one of the main viewpoints in Ping'an Zhuang Village, and it works best together with Seven Stars with Moon. After entering the Longji Rice Terraces scenic area, go to the Ping'an area first.
Tip:Do not mix this route up with the Jinkeng Dazhai cable car route.

Use the easier loop route
The easier route is to take the sightseeing car from the Ping'an parking area up to Nine Dragons and Five Tigers, then walk about 30 minutes to Seven Stars with Moon, and finally descend through Ping'an Village.
Tip:This is smoother than walking back the same way.

Walk up if you want more village scenery
If you have enough energy, you can also walk up from Ping'an Village. The route passes village houses, stone paths, and terrace edges.
Tip:There are many slopes and steps, and the ground can be slippery after rain.

Use it for sunset and terrace lines
Nine Dragons and Five Tigers is better for sunset and full terrace lines. If you want morning mist or village lights at night, stay in Ping'an Village.
Tip:Do not expect the village lights to be a dedicated light show.
Highlights
- The viewpoint is known for the classic Ping'an composition of ridges, terrace lines, and rounded hill shapes.
- In the flooded season from May to June, the water reflections make the terrace layers clearer.
- From September to October, the rice fields turn yellow, which works especially well for wide photos.
- It is more open than Seven Stars with Moon and works well as the first stop in the Ping'an area.
- Walk a few steps down from the main platform to avoid some of the crowd and find more flexible photo angles.
Insider Tips
✦The Ping'an sightseeing car fee is separate from the Longji entrance ticket, so do not treat them as one ticket.
✦Do not step into working terrace paths or rice fields. Keep distance from villagers' crops when taking photos.
✦A clear late afternoon is better than midday for Nine Dragons and Five Tigers, because the light is less harsh.
✦Heavy fog can hide the full terrace view, so do not rush here only for one viewpoint when the weather is poor.
✦If you also want to visit Seven Stars with Moon, do not spend too long at Nine Dragons and Five Tigers, or the descent will feel rushed.
