Entrance and visiting area

Jiuzhou Pool is at the intersection of Tangong Middle Road and Gongyu Road, the Old Town District of Luoyang. The visitor center is at the West Gate. The West Gate is the usual entrance, the East Gate is generally less crowded, and the South Gate is usually for exiting only. Entrance arrangements can change temporarily, so choose the gate according to the on-site directions before entering.

Tickets and timing

The reference daytime ticket price is CNY 30, and the reference half-price ticket for students and minors is CNY 15. Advance booking is usually not required; tickets can be bought through the official mini program or on site. Opening hours are usually 09:00–22:30, with entry ending at 22:00. Luoyang tourist annual passes may be used under the current policy, and weather can cause temporary closure.

How much time to allow

Allow about 1 hour for a loop from the West Gate through Yaoguang Hall, along the lake and to the South Gate; allow about 2 hours for an evening visit that adds the red-walled Yongxiang on the east side, pavilions, the Nine-Bend Bridge and night views. Yingtianmen, Mingtang and Tiantang, and Jiuzhou Pool can be linked on foot, but their entrances and tickets are handled separately.

Choose your visit

Yaoguang Hall and the imperial garden

Yaoguang Hall is the main building and viewpoint in the park. It may host immersive content such as “Wind Rises over Jiuzhou.” Along the lake, visitors can see the Glazed Pavilion, Three-Bend Bridge, Silver Pavilion and Gold Pavilion. The route suits visitors interested in Sui and Tang palace gardens, landscapes and reflections on the water.

Evening and night views

The park usually begins lighting up gradually at around 19:00. Yaoguang Hall and its reflection on the lake become the main night scenery, but lighting times change with the season, weather and the day’s arrangements. The red-walled Yongxiang on the east side is usually quieter. The Nine-Bend Bridge is suitable for photographing pavilions and water, but stay clear of the through route.

Performances and who this suits

The park may offer free Tang-style performances such as “Divine Capital Parade” and “Ode to Yaoguang.” Check the announcement on the day of entry for exact sessions. Large-scale live performances such as “Phoenix Dance over the Divine Capital” may require separate tickets. Visitors interested in hanfu photography, gardens or night views can choose different priorities for their stay.

Build your day

1 hour: Daytime lakeside loop

Enter through the West Gate visitor center and go first to Yaoguang Hall. Then walk along the lake past the Glazed Pavilion and Three-Bend Bridge before leaving through the South Gate. The South Gate is usually for exiting only, so plan the return or next stop around the direction of exit.

2 hours: Late afternoon into night

Entering through the West Gate at around 17:00 is recommended. Visit Yaoguang Hall and its indoor displays first, then walk along the red-walled Yongxiang on the east side to the Glazed Pavilion, Silver Pavilion, Gold Pavilion and Nine-Bend Bridge. After around 19:00, stay by the lake to watch the lights and reflections. The second floor of Yaoguang Hall may close at around 19:00, so schedule the climb earlier.

Linking the three parks

Jiuzhou Pool, Mingtang and Tiantang, and Yingtianmen are about 5–10 minutes apart on foot. The reference price for a three-park combination ticket is about CNY 120, usually allowing one entry to each park within 3 days. The combination ticket is not a performance pass; projects such as “Phoenix Dance over the Divine Capital” and the entry rules for each park still follow the ticketing page for that day.

Get there

Metro and walking

Take Metro Line 1 to Yingtianmen Station. Exit from Exit C1 and walk about 8 minutes to the Jiuzhou Pool West Gate visitor center. The area around Yingtianmen works well for arranging Jiuzhou Pool, Mingtang and Tiantang, and Yingtianmen on the same evening, but enter each scenic area through its own gate.

Choosing an entrance

The West Gate is the usual entrance at the visitor center, while the East Gate is generally less crowded. The South Gate usually serves as the exit. Confirm which gates are open that day before setting out; the South Gate may not serve as an entrance.

Know before you go

Weather, lighting and performances

Jiuzhou Pool may close temporarily because of weather, and the lighting and free-performance times may also change. Check the day’s announcement after entering. Visitor numbers concentrate at Yaoguang Hall’s second floor, along the lake and at the Nine-Bend Bridge at night, so do not stand in the middle of a narrow passage when taking photographs.

Food and leaving the park

Wuge Paomatang is near the scenic-area entrance. A walk of about 1 kilometer takes you to Xiaojie Tianfu and Xiaojie Guotie on Xigong Snack Street. If continuing to Luoyi Ancient City or Shizi Street Night Market, plan the walk or taxi around Jiuzhou Pool’s exit direction and the next stop’s reservation and opening hours.
