Lvsi National Central Fishing Port

吕四国家中心渔港

Plan Lvsi as a working fishing port rather than a resort, with practical guidance on access, wet surfaces, seafood buying, processing and seasonal fishing activity.

Plan at a glance

Working fishing port and visit length

Lvsi National Central Fishing Port is in Lvsi Port Town, Qidong. It is a seafood distribution area and working port. The core port area is free and open all day, with no reservation required. Its appeal is fishing boats, port work and local-market atmosphere, not a traditional seaside resort.

A quick stop takes about 30–60 minutes; a fuller visit takes 2–3 hours. Driving from central Nantong takes about 1.5–2 hours, and parking inside the port is free. The ground can be wet and slippery, and the smell of the sea is strong, so the port suits visitors comfortable with a working coastal environment.

Entrances and local movement

Navigate to the Lvsi Fishing Port Comprehensive Service Centre or Xianyu Town to enter the core port area. By public transport, take high-speed rail to Qidong Station, then transfer to Bus 101, 102 or 105 for Lvsi Port Town. The bus journey takes more than an hour and suits visitors with plenty of time.

Fishing boats, the red frame and the Most Fresh Road

The China National Geography red frame, the Most Fresh Road and rows of fishing boats are the easiest photo locations to find. Boat hulls, anchors, ropes and port buildings show the working character of the harbour and suit visitors interested in photography and local life.

For a busier opening-season atmosphere, look for the August 1 opening-season festival if it is held that year, or arrive when fishing boats return in the morning. The exact activity and number of boats depend on the season, weather and port work.

Who it suits

The port suits seafood lovers, photographers, visitors interested in local life and families who want to see fishing boats or experience a tidal flat. Visitors who prioritise clean surroundings, easy public transport and a comfortable resort setting should keep the stop short or use it as a brief self-driving stop.

Build your day

About 30–60 minutes: a quick route

Navigate to the China National Geography–Lvsi Fishing Port area around No. 459 Shuichan Road. Take photographs at the red frame, then drive along the Most Fresh Road to observe the port and boats before leaving.

This route works as a short stop on a Qidong coastal drive. Stay on open paths and keep a safe distance from work vehicles, wet surfaces and active boat operations.

About 2–3 hours: a fuller route

Start at Xianyu Town to look toward the sea and port, then drive to the China National Geography red frame. If useful, continue to Lvsi Yingang Market to see local trading. If the tide is suitable, add the East Sea Embankment Black Beach or the tidal flat near Xianyu Town as a short outdoor activity.

The market, port and tidal flat are separate areas and require driving between them. Only enter the tidal flat at low tide and follow the local ground conditions; port sightseeing and tidal-flat harvesting are different activities.

Get there

Driving

Driving from central Nantong takes about 1.5–2 hours. Navigate to the Lvsi Fishing Port Comprehensive Service Centre or Xianyu Town; free parking is available inside the port. Driving is the most practical way to connect the red frame, Most Fresh Road and market.

High-speed rail and bus

After taking high-speed rail to Qidong Station, transfer to Bus 101, 102 or 105 for Lvsi Port Town. The reference fare is CNY 4–5 and the bus journey takes more than an hour. Public transport suits visitors who are not in a hurry and can accept a longer connection.

Know before you go

Environment and walking

The port smells strongly of seawater and seafood, and the ground may have mud or standing water. Wear non-slip shoes. There is no unified official guide service; stay within open areas for viewing, photography and market activities, and do not enter port work zones.

The fishing ban usually runs from May to September, so seafood can be scarcer and more expensive. If buying seafood is the main purpose, September after the opening season is a better time to consider, although the catch still depends on weather and port operations.

Buying and processing seafood

When buying seafood, choose a local market and avoid bulk baskets sold directly at the dock. Check that live seafood is in good condition and buy by net weight where possible. If you want a restaurant to process it, confirm in advance whether the charge is by portion or by weight.

Restaurants may have limited capacity during holidays and the opening season. Eat outside the busiest period or contact the restaurant ahead of time. If transporting seafood in a private car, protect the boot and interior because the smell can be difficult to remove.

Nearby coastal stops

Yuantuojiao Scenic Area suits coastline and sunrise views, while Golden Beach suits tide-dependent harvesting. Both require driving from Lvsi, and their tickets, tides and opening arrangements are separate.
