Canyon entrance and tickets

Yuanyang Creek is in Yiyang Village, Shuangxi Town, Pingnan County, Ningde, Fujian. The Yuanyang Creek Visitor Service Center is a commonly used entrance. The experience centers on canyon scenery, waterfalls, suspended boardwalks, and stair-heavy walking, which is different from the shallow riverbed at Baishuiyang.

Peak-season admission (April–October) commonly costs CNY 78. Off-season admission (November–March) commonly costs CNY 32–40. The Baishuiyang–Yuanyang Creek combined ticket commonly costs CNY 160 and is valid for 2 days. The cave lift commonly costs CNY 40 one way and is optional, not a required transport link for every route.

Hours, time needed, and who it suits

Peak-season hours are 7:00–16:00, with entry stopping at 16:00. Off-season hours are 8:00–15:00. Allow about 1.5–2 hours for a short route, 3–4 hours for a half-route, and 4–5 hours for a deeper hike; include steps, photos, rest, and the return.

This suits waterfall photographers, canyon walkers, and visitors comfortable with stairs. Older adults and children can use the cave lift for part of the climbing and choose a short route, but the lift does not remove every change in elevation. Check whether the later boardwalks suit the group.

Choose your visit

Baizhangji, Lingyun Boardwalk, and the canyon

Baizhangji drops about 157 m and is one of the main waterfall sections of the route. The Lingyun Suspended Boardwalk follows the canyon wall and gives views of the creek at different heights. Water volume, mist, and rainbows depend on the weather, so the same scene cannot be guaranteed on every visit.

The Monkey Forest, Trumpet Waterfall, Little Tianchi, Lianxin Platform, and Water Curtain Cave lie along different route sections. Monkeys may or may not appear. Keep your distance and do not feed, tease, or lure them with food.

Who it suits

Visitors in good physical condition can choose the half-route or a larger loop. Light hikers and families are better suited to the short route. Temperature differences in the canyon can be noticeable, and steps and boardwalks become more slippery after rain, so shoes with good grip matter more than trying to cover every point.

If anyone cannot climb stairs for a long time, do not assume that buying the cave lift makes the whole route accessible. You can stay around Baizhangji and a short boardwalk, or return when rain begins or an area closes.

Build your day

A 1.5–2 hour short route

From the Visitor Service Center, you can take the cave lift toward the Baizhangji area, then see Water Curtain Cave, the waterfall surroundings, and gentler boardwalk sections before returning according to the day's opening arrangements. Confirm whether the lift is running, its stations, and the waiting time on site.

This suits visitors with limited time and groups with older adults or children. The area around Baizhangji may still be wet and slippery. Check the surface and closure notices before approaching the waterfall or Water Curtain Cave, and do not cross a barrier to get closer to the spray.

A 3–4 hour highlights half-route

First-time visitors can enter through the Monkey Forest, Trumpet Waterfall, Little Tianchi, Lingyun Boardwalk, and Lianxin Platform to Baizhangji, then leave according to the exit and transport arrangements. This route minimizes backtracking, but the steps and elevation changes remain significant.

If your energy drops, reassess around Little Tianchi or the Lingyun Boardwalk. The cave lift is optional transport for part of the ascent; do not follow an unconfirmed reverse route or choose a steeper path simply to save the lift fare.

A 4–5 hour deep hike

Fit visitors can take the roughly 7 km large loop through Fairy Waterfall, Thousand-Layer Waterfall, Little Hukou Waterfall, and Xianren Bridge. Confirm the open area and final return time at entry. Rain, falling rocks, or temporary closures may shorten the route.

Bring water, insect protection, and shoes with good grip, and keep time in reserve for the return. Do not combine a deep Yuanyang Creek hike with water play at Baishuiyang as one tightly packed day; transfers in the Pingnan mountains need separate time.

Get there

Driving and parking

Navigate to “Yuanyang Creek Visitor Center Parking Lot,” where parking commonly costs about CNY 10 per day. After parking, confirm the ticket area, cave lift, and return direction before choosing a short, half, or deep route.

The canyon entrance, exit, and parking location may not be the same. Before leaving, confirm whether a scenic vehicle is needed to return to the car. Do not plan the car retrieval only from the location of the final waterfall.

High-speed rail, bus, and scenic shuttle

From Pingnan Station, take a taxi or bus to Pingnan Bus Station, then transfer to the scenic-area shuttle bus. The shuttle ride takes about 40 minutes and commonly costs CNY 10. Public transport is limited, so confirm the return service before entering.

If you also plan Baishuiyang on the same trip, decide which day is for the canyon and schedule around both attractions' hours. The combined ticket is valid for 2 days; it does not mean the two attractions have continuous shuttle service between them.

Know before you go

Steps, slippery surfaces, and the cave lift

Yuanyang Creek has many steps and canyon boardwalks, which may be slippery after rain. Wear sports shoes with good grip. The cave lift commonly costs about CNY 40 one way and reduces part of the climb, but you still need to walk to the different viewpoints; it is not an all-route accessibility service.

The canyon is cooler and more humid than the outside area. Bring a light jacket, drinking water, and insect protection. Do not use unopened cliff edges or detours below waterfalls, and do not stop for a long time on the boardwalk where you block other visitors.

Monkeys, weather, and supplies

Keep your distance from monkeys. Do not stare at, feed, or tease them, and keep food stored away. Monkeys and other wildlife are not guaranteed viewing attractions, so do not approach or chase them for a photo.

During heavy rain, typhoons, or changes in canyon water levels, the scenic area may close or adjust routes. Food and drink supplies inside are limited, so bring water and simple food. When a route closes, rain starts, or the final entry time is near, return first.
