Plan at a glance

Shallow riverbed and entrance

Baishuiyang is in Shuangxi Town, Pingnan County, Ningde, Fujian. The Baishuiyang Visitor Center is a commonly used entrance. The core experience is a broad, flat granite riverbed with shallow-water activity areas. After entering, take the scenic sightseeing vehicle to the main area. Drivers can navigate to the Baishuiyang Visitor Center parking lot.

A Baishuiyang-only ticket commonly costs CNY 120 and includes the round-trip sightseeing vehicle. A combined Baishuiyang–Yuanyang Creek ticket commonly costs CNY 160 and is valid for 2 days. The combined ticket covers two separate attractions: water activities at Baishuiyang, canyon paths at Yuanyang Creek, and the entrances for each place must still be planned separately.

Hours, time needed, and who it suits

Peak-season hours (April–October) are 7:30–18:00, and off-season hours (November–March) are 8:00–17:00. A visit to Baishuiyang alone usually takes about 3 hours. With the combined ticket, a practical arrangement is one day at Baishuiyang and another at Yuanyang Creek.

This suits summer water play, short family outings, photography, and light walking. Water temperature, rainfall, flow, and the day's safety management determine whether the water-play area can be entered. Do not treat water depth, slides, or children's access as fixed guarantees.

Choose your visit

Shallow-water square and riverbed landscape

The Central Shallow-Water Square covers about 80,000 square meters. Its broad, flat riverbed is Baishuiyang's main visiting area. Water conditions change with the weather, water level, and safety management, so choose wading, walking, or viewing according to the area open that day. Do not enter a closed section to look for a particular water depth.

The Five Old Peaks Viewing Platform requires walking up steps and is suitable for seeing the riverbed and the wider scenic area from above. The natural surfing slide is optional. Whether it is open, whether it needs a separate ticket, and whether children can use it all depend on the rules on site that day.

Who it suits

Families can choose the shallow-water square and a short period of wading. Photographers can frame the riverbed, bridges, and mountains together. Visitors who do not like cold water, wet clothes, or steps can stay in the viewing areas and do not need to enter the river.

If you are also visiting Yuanyang Creek, calculate the canyon walking and stair effort for the second day separately. Being comfortable with water play at Baishuiyang does not mean every member of the group is ready for a long hike at Yuanyang Creek.

Build your day

A 3-hour Baishuiyang short route

Take the sightseeing vehicle from the Visitor Center to the Central Shallow-Water Square. First observe the flow and the open area, then wade or walk for a short time if conditions allow. If you want the natural slide or Five Old Peaks Viewing Platform, include waiting time, changing clothes, and the stairs in the plan.

When the water feels cold, do not stay in it for too long, and change clothes soon afterward. If it rains, the water level rises, or the water-play area closes, switch to viewing or end the visit. Do not enter the river from another section to look for an alternative.

A two-day Baishuiyang–Yuanyang Creek plan

Spend the first day at Baishuiyang, then return to Shuangxi Town to rest. On the second day, go to Yuanyang Creek and choose a half-route around Lingyun Boardwalk or Baizhangji. Each attraction has its own entrance and visiting hours; the combined ticket does not mean you can transfer directly between them inside one scenic area.

Baishuiyang is more comfortable for water play during suitable parts of the day, but no fixed time can guarantee the weather or water temperature. Yuanyang Creek requires an earlier entry and extra time for walking, steps, and the return, so do not use Baishuiyang's relaxed pace for the canyon day.

A longer Pingnan itinerary

With more time, split Baishuiyang, Yuanyang Creek, Shuangxi Ancient Town, Longtan Ancient Town, and Siping Village across two or three days. The mountain locations around Pingnan require driving or arranged transfers; they are not a continuous walking area around the Visitor Center.

In rain or when water levels change, cancel water play and canyon routes first, then decide whether to keep the ancient-town or village stops. Do not enter the water in unsafe weather simply to use every part of a combined ticket.

Get there

Driving and parking

Navigate to “Baishuiyang Visitor Center Parking Lot.” Parking commonly costs about CNY 10 per visit. After arriving, confirm the sightseeing-vehicle boarding point, changing area, and return direction before going to the riverbed.

Do not park at roadside private locations offered by touts, and do not leave luggage in a car far from the Visitor Center. Plan the route for changing clothes and retrieving belongings after water activities.

High-speed rail, bus, and shuttle

From Pingnan Station, take a taxi or bus to Pingnan Bus Station, then transfer to the scenic-area shuttle bus. The shuttle ride takes about 40 minutes and commonly costs CNY 10–11. You can also take a coach from Ningde or Fuzhou Bus Station to Pingnan, then transfer to the scenic shuttle.

Public-transport return trips need extra waiting time, especially when combining Yuanyang Creek. Do not look only at the outward bus; confirm the day's vehicles and the final transfer before entering.

Know before you go

Grip, cold water, and water-play equipment

The riverbed rocks can be very slippery. Wear the scenic area's recommended grip socks or secure river shoes; do not enter the water in flip-flops. The creek water can be cold, so keep water play short and bring spare clothes and a waterproof bag.

Water guns, scoops, phone pouches, and similar items may be expensive inside the scenic area, and rental stock can change. Changing rooms may have queues at busy times and shower conditions depend on the day. Do not leave too little time for changing and rinsing.

Weather and safety boundaries

The water-play area may close in rain, and heavy rain can change the river level and flow speed. Check the weather before leaving and follow closures and evacuation instructions on site. Do not cross barriers or enter from another section of the river.

Ticket categories for students, older visitors, and children depend on the identification rules on the day. People who receive free admission may still need to buy the sightseeing-vehicle ticket. Do not apply one ticket category's conditions to everyone in the group.
