Fenglin Xiaozhen

峰林晓镇

Plan Fenglin Xiaozhen with lake views, seasonal flowers, small-train tickets and a low-walking route.

Plan at a glance

Treat it as a low-walking garden and lakeside visit

Fenglin Xiaozhen sits in the Jiulong Town core of Yingxi Peak Forest and suits flower fields, Lotus Lake, the small train, boat rides and family attractions rather than wilderness walking. Base admission usually covers only entry; packages cover some small-train, boat or children’s attractions, so confirm the activities you actually want before buying.

The park usually opens around 08:30–18:00. Allow 2–3 hours for an easy route or 4–5 hours for a fuller park visit. Flower fields, lotus blooms and grasses are strongly seasonal, so outside the main flower period focus on the lake, peak backdrop and gentle walk instead.

Match the ticket type to your group’s energy

For families with children or older adults who plan to use the boat, small train and dinosaur area, a package is usually clearer than buying each activity at the gate. Travellers who only want lake-and-peak views and walking photographs do not need the largest package for attractions they may not use.

Mini electric carts are charged by time and can involve a deposit, minimum-rental numbers and overtime rules. For a short visit, walking plus the small train may be better value; check the train timetable and route before deciding whether to rent a cart.

Choose your visit

2–3 hours: Lotus Lake, Moon Bridge and the small train

After entering, take a boat on Lotus Lake or walk its edge, cross Moon Bridge, then use the small train to form a low-effort loop. Morning or late-afternoon light is better for the lake and peak backdrop. In hot weather, avoid standing too long beside exposed lotus ponds.

Small-train ticketing can differ between sections and return journeys, so ask which segment passes across the lake before buying. If you only want one ride, walk to the pink station and take the return segment instead of paying twice for a full round trip.

4–5 hours: family attractions, viewing and the lake area

For a fuller visit, use the sequence of Jurassic Adventure Park, Linglong Stone Viewpoint, small train, flower fields, Lotus Lake boat ride and the hilltop viewpoint. Children’s attractions suit family groups, while the viewpoint and lake area let you alternate photographs with rests.

Do not assume hot-air balloons, zip lines or the ice-and-snow world are included in normal admission or every package; they can cost extra or be affected by weather and time. If queues are long, keep one activity children most want and one peak-and-lake route rather than trying to do everything.

Build your day

Confirm attraction entrances before following the lakeside route

On entry, confirm which attractions your ticket covers and where the small train boards, then make Lotus Lake and Moon Bridge the walking spine of the visit. If you plan to take a boat, check the queue first and decide whether to sail before or after the flower fields, so you do not keep returning to the same area.

Visit Linglong Stone Viewpoint when energy is highest, then use the small train or electric cart to reduce walking. Lotus ponds, flower fields and the viewpoint are all exposed, so shorten outdoor stops at midday.

Adjust the photo route to the season and light

Prioritise flower fields in March–April, lotus ponds and Moon Bridge in June–September, and seasonal pink muhly grass in October. Outside these periods, do not walk long distances searching for peak bloom; the lake, distant peaks and small train can still make a gentle visit.

A later-afternoon entry reduces sun exposure, but leave time for attraction cut-offs and the return journey. The train and boat are supporting transport, not the only possible way to leave the park before closing.

Get there

Start from the main-gate visitor centre and parking area

Drive to “Yingxi Peak Forest · Fenglin Xiaozhen”; the parking area is close to the entrance and works well for families carrying children’s items or spare clothing. The drive from the Pearl River Delta takes about 2–2.5 hours, while a taxi from Yingde West Railway Station takes about 40 minutes.

After public transport reaches Jiulong Town, a short connection is still needed and services are limited, so do not arrive close to closing time. Non-drivers should arrange a return car before entering rather than start looking after leaving.

Choose internal transport by distance and cost

Walking plus the small train is generally enough for the core lake area. Before renting a cart, confirm the CNY 60-per-hour charge, deposit, minimum rental number and overtime rule; paying a high price to save only a few minutes is rarely worthwhile.

If someone in the group has limited mobility, use the budget for attractions that genuinely reduce walking. Do not cluster the train, boat and viewpoint into the last hour before closing simply to catch up.

Know before you go

Check base admission and activity tickets one by one

The small train, boat, hot-air balloon and zip line may not be included with entry. Before buying a package, confirm which attractions operate that day and when they can be used. Discount schemes such as the Guangdong Tourism Annual Pass may waive only base admission, so calculate the in-park activity cost separately.

Exit photography and high-resolution photos are optional purchases. Finish your route and confirm your return first, then decide whether to collect or buy photographs. If an attraction stops operating, adjust the route rather than repeatedly buying replacement tickets.

Summer sun and seasonal expectations shape the visit

Lotus ponds and the small-train route have little shade, so bring a hat, sun protection and enough water in summer, and avoid midday where possible. Flower displays do not look the same all year; choose timing around rapeseed flowers, lotus blooms or autumn grasses.

Farmhouse meals near the park can include Jiulong tofu and fig chicken. If you want to continue to Dongtian Xianjing or a tea garden, put it in the other half of the day or on another day rather than compressing several ticketed attractions into one afternoon.
