Plan at a glance

Main entrance and what to expect

Xianluo Island (仙螺岛) is on Huanhai Road in Nandaihe. The main entrance is on the beach at Nandaihe Bathing Beach (南戴河浴场). After buying a ticket, queue for the cable car across the sea. The main experience is the round-trip cable car and the sea views; the island is a man-made amusement area, and rides cost extra. It works well as one stop in a half-day outing.

Ticket price and last entry

A cable-car round-trip ticket is about RMB 100 per person. At the ticket counter, check whether a RMB 10 insurance charge has been selected by default; ask for it to be removed if you do not want it. Opening hours are about 8:00 am–5:30 pm, with last entry around 4:00–4:20 pm. Strong winds or rain may stop the cable car, so check the weather and ticketing arrangements on the day.

Choose your visit

Sea-crossing cable car and island loop

The cable car links the Nandaihe coast with the man-made island and offers views over the water. On the island, follow the circular boardwalk past the Conch Fairy statue (海螺仙子) and coastal viewpoints. The island is mainly an amusement park, and children's rides cost extra. The water clarity and scenery are not those of a natural island.

Who will enjoy it

This stop suits visitors who want to ride the cross-sea cable car and are comfortable with queues and extra charges for island attractions. Families with children can decide how long to stay based on which rides are open that day. If you mainly want a seaside walk, use Tianma Bathing Beach (天马浴场) and spend less time on the island.

Build your day

1.5–2 hour early visit

Try to reach the main entrance when it opens at 8:00 am. Buy your ticket, queue for the cable car, then walk the island boardwalk and pass the Conch Fairy statue (海螺仙子). Return by cable car if you hold a cable-car round-trip ticket. Only a package that includes a one-way sightseeing boat ride lets you use the boat or cable car in the direction listed on the ticket. Queues are busiest from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm in peak season and can exceed two hours. Arriving early may shorten the wait, but it does not guarantee a queue-free visit.

Flexible 3–4 hour visit

If you want to stay longer and see the evening light, walk the island boardwalk and arrange your return according to your ticket. Do not plan to enter at or after 4:00 pm for an evening visit. Last entry is close to sunset, and peak-season queues and the return trip also take time. Whether you see the sunset depends on the season, weather, and that day's operations.

Cable car and sightseeing boat options

The return option depends on the ticket purchased. A cable-car round-trip ticket covers the return by cable car. Use a sightseeing boat only if your package includes a one-way boat ride, and follow the direction printed on the ticket for the boat or cable car. Boat departures depend on weather and on-site operations; check the return direction, schedule, and price before buying.

Get there

From Beidaihe Railway Station

A taxi from Beidaihe Railway Station takes about 20 minutes and costs around RMB 25. You can also take bus 22 to the “Foreign Languages Institute” stop (外语学院站), then walk about 700 m. The bus fare is about RMB 2. For driving, navigate to “Xianluo Island Dedicated Parking Lot” (仙螺岛专属停车场). Parking is tight in peak season, so arrive early.

Entrance, parking, and beach

The main entrance is on the beach at Nandaihe Bathing Beach (南戴河浴场). After buying a ticket, go to the cable-car queue. Parking is about RMB 10 per hour, capped at RMB 40 per day. Tianma Bathing Beach (天马浴场) is nearby and can be used for a walk before or after the island visit, subject to local access and safety notices.

Know before you go

Ticket types and discounts

A cable-car round-trip ticket is about RMB 100 per person. Students and visitors aged 60–69 may qualify for half-price admission; children under 1.2 m are generally admitted free. On-site insurance is about RMB 10; check whether it has been selected before paying. Sightseeing boat tickets and cable-car tickets are different products, so check the direction and inclusions of your ticket.

Weather, service suspensions, and queues

Strong winds or rain may suspend the cable car, affecting both the outward and return journeys. Follow staff instructions if the weather changes, and decide how to return before setting out for the island. Peak-season queues can exceed two hours. Last entry is usually before closing, so include queueing and the return trip in any sunset plan.

Open cable cars and personal belongings

The cable-car cabins are open-sided. Use wrist or neck straps for phones and cameras to prevent them from falling, and follow staff instructions when boarding and getting off. From the beach side, the pier is a good place to photograph the cable car from below; the island boardwalk and Conch Fairy statue (海螺仙子) work well for coastal portraits. Enter before last admission if you want evening light, and allow time for peak-season queues and the return trip. Sunset views depend on the season, weather, and that day's operations.

Rest on the island and beach safety

Dining options on the island are limited, so bring water and a simple snack from the coast before boarding. Tianma Beach is nearby for a walk. Follow staff directions when boarding the island transport or waiting for the sightseeing boat. Check separately whether rides and boat trips cost extra.
