Qian'ao is in Qian'ao Village, Jieshi Town, Lufeng, around 7–8 km from Jieshi Town. Its clear sea, rocky shore, fishing harbour, old fort, and coastal riding route can fill a day. The key is to plan tide-pooling around low tide rather than treating this as a swimming beach.
Use the beach or Seabed Garden entrance, and arrive later for sunset
Navigate to “Qian'ao Beach” or “Qian'ao Seabed Garden” for the usual access points. The area is free, requires no reservation, and is open all day. Arrive after 4 pm for gentler light and sunset; weekdays are usually quiet, while holidays bring moderate crowds.

For a short stay, combine the beach, sunset, and Jieshi evening
Arrive at Qian'ao Beach in the afternoon, walk and photograph the coast, then watch sunset. Return to Jieshi Town for dinner and, if you wish, an evening walk around the night-lit Xuanwu Mountain area. This works well if you are not planning to go tide-pooling.
First-time visitors can spread the area over two days; tide-poolers should follow the tide
Use the first day for Qian'ao sunset, a campsite picnic, and Jieshi night market; on day two, visit the old fort, Tianhou Temple, and Shuanglian Market. If tide-pooling is the priority, check the low-tide window first, then build the day around the Seabed Garden rocks, harbour, and coastal bend road.

Ride the coast first, then go down to the rocky shoreline
From Jieshi Town, an e-bike route can take in the S-shaped coastal bend road before reaching Qian'ao Beach and Seabed Garden. At low tide, the rocks are suitable for observing shells and small crabs; do not wear flip-flops or climb wet, slippery rocks.
Finish at the harbour and old fort before returning to town
Qian'ao Old Fort overlooks Jieshi Bay and is best visited while there is still good light. In the evening, watch fishing boats return at the harbour, then stop at Tianhou Temple or return to Jieshi Town for dinner. There are toilets near the temple, useful after time on the shore.

Driving brings you directly to the beach parking area
Navigate to “Qian'ao Beach Parking Lot”; parking is around CNY 5–10 per vehicle. You can leave the car by the village entrance and walk to the coast. Driving is especially useful if you also plan to connect Xuanwu Mountain or Jinxiang Beach on the same day.
From high-speed rail, transfer through Jieshi Town and continue by e-bike
Lufeng East Station is the nearest high-speed-rail station. Take the Jieshi shuttle bus to Jieshi Town, about 40 minutes and CNY 5, then rent a shared e-bike; a direct taxi from the station takes about 30 minutes. E-bikes are convenient for the coast, but traffic in Jieshi Town is busy, so ride slowly and carefully.
Know before you go
There are no lifeguards here, so swimming is not part of the plan
Qian'ao is suitable for paddling in the shallows and playing on the sand, not for sea swimming. Tide-pooling should only happen at low tide, with non-slip shoes and long-sleeved sun protection; avoid slippery rocks and do not remain on the shore as the tide rises.
Plan food, water, and an extra layer before setting out
There are only a few snack and barbecue stalls near the beach, so bring drinking water and snacks and plan proper meals back in Jieshi Town. The afternoon sun is strong and the temperature can feel cooler after sunset, so bring a hat, sunglasses, sun protection, and a light outer layer. Weekdays are generally the better choice for a slow visit.
