Plan at a glance

A long beach that works well with Rainbow Town and Guanyin Ridge

Jinxiang Beach is on Jieshi Bay in Jinxiang Town, Lufeng. Its roughly 8 km stretch of pale sand is the core of the visit. The area is free, requires no reservation, and is open all day; plan between 9 am and 6:30 pm if you want to combine sand, Rainbow Town, and sunset, with the best coastal light later in the day.

Drivers should plan parking and holiday congestion together

The usual access points are the Jinxiang Beach main entrance and Rainbow Town entrance. There are eight free parking areas with nearly 1,000 spaces along the coast, but the coastal road becomes congested during May Day and National Day holidays. Arrive early or avoid peak driving periods.

Choose your visit

A one-day route can link the beach, Rainbow Town, and Guanyin Ridge

Start by walking and paddling at Jinxiang Beach, then visit Rainbow Town for photos before continuing to Guanyin Ridge for sunset. Return to Jieshi Town for seafood in the evening. This is a coastal itinerary suited to a short weekend visit.

Two days allow time for the crossing-site history and a temple visit

On day one, visit Jinxiang Beach, Rainbow Town, and Zhouzhu Crossing-the-Sea Park, then stay near the coast. On day two, see Guanyin Ridge’s Zhenhai Rock, the Zhou Enlai sea-crossing site, and Xuanwu Mountain. Families can reduce driving and focus on beach time, Shiergang Art Village, and Haina Jintan.

Build your day

Use the morning for the beach and small town, without rushing in the strongest sun

Walk Jinxiang Beach and spend time on the sand first. At low tide, choose an appropriate shoreline area to observe shells and small crabs. Rainbow Town’s painted walls, windmills, and seaside installations are a natural next stop and are best photographed in softer light.

Move toward Guanyin Ridge or the crossing park in the afternoon

For rock inscriptions and broad views of Jieshi Bay, continue to Guanyin Ridge. For modern-history context, visit the Zhou Enlai sea-crossing site and Zhouzhu Crossing-the-Sea Park. Return to the coast for sunset, then head to Jieshi Town or Donghai Avenue for dinner.

Get there

Driving from the Pearl River Delta is simplest; taxis from rail take longer

Driving from the Pearl River Delta usually takes about 2–2.5 hours; navigate to “Lufeng Jinxiang Beach.” From Lufeng Station or Lufeng East Station, a taxi takes about one hour and costs roughly CNY 50–80. Confirm both price and return arrangements before leaving the station.

Buses reach Jinxiang Town, but services are limited

Take the Lufeng–Jinxiang bus from Lufeng Yueyun Bus Terminal; the journey takes about one hour. If you want to move freely between Jinxiang Beach, Guanyin Ridge, Qian'ao, and Xuanwu Mountain, driving or hiring a car is more practical than relying on bus schedules.

Know before you go

Tide-pooling depends on the tide, and rocky areas are not for swimming

Check the tide before planning tide-pooling, wear non-slip shoes, and avoid fishing nets and wet rocks. There are no lifeguards, so do not plan to swim in the sea. In winter and spring, seaweed may cover parts of the shore; it can be photogenic but is also slippery.

Avoid holiday traffic and choose seafood places with clear pricing

On holidays, try to enter the main coastal area before 10 am or after 3 pm to reduce delays on the two-lane coastal road. Confirm seafood prices and weight before ordering, and favour clearly priced restaurants. Sun-protective clothing, sunscreen, and a hat are essential in the strong coastal wind and sun.
