Visit scope and time
Fengcai Tower is at No. 1 Wenhua Street in Zhenjiang District, Shaoguan, and is a landmark of the old city. The square and surrounding streets can be viewed at different times of day. Climbing the tower and visiting the indoor exhibition space is available Tuesday–Sunday from 09:30–16:30, with entry ending at 16:00. The tower and indoor spaces are closed on Mondays.
Admission is free. A quick visit takes about 30–60 minutes. Adding Fengdu Road, Centennial East Street, and Shaozhou Prefectural Academy makes a 2–3 hour route or half-day walk. Evening lighting is for viewing the exterior and does not mean the tower remains open for climbing.

Plan Fengcai Tower in separate sections: the square and exterior, the indoor exhibition, an old-city walk, and the evening exterior view. The indoor stairs are fairly steep, so older adults and children should move slowly. A short photo stop is not the same as an accessible visit.

Architecture and history exhibition
Fengcai Tower is mainly about the Ming-era landmark building, its red walls and dark tiled roof, the unusual relationship between the tower and traffic passing beneath it, and the exhibitions about Yu Jing and local history. The upper levels look over the Zhen River and old city, but the stairs are steep and suit visitors willing to take them slowly.
Old-city streets
Fengdu Road, Shaozhou Prefectural Academy, Centennial East Street, and the riverside promenade create a connected old-city atmosphere around the tower. Daytime is better for architecture and street details; evening is better for lighting, the night market, and riverside life. These experiences do not require entering the tower.
Who it suits and when to go
Fengcai Tower suits city walkers, visitors looking for a short landmark stop, architectural photographers, and families introducing children to local history. Visitors who want the indoor exhibition should go during opening hours. Those who only want the night view should focus on the exterior and streets rather than climbing the tower.

Daytime sequence
Follow “Fengcai Tower Square panorama → climb the tower → third-floor history exhibition → river view from the balcony → descend → Fengdu Road or Centennial East Street.” The indoor stairs and corners are narrow, so do not stop in the middle of the stairs for photos.
Evening sequence
An evening route can run “Fengcai Tower exterior at dusk → Centennial East Street → riverside promenade → dinner.” After the lights come on, the main subject is the tower together with the surrounding streets. Do not plan an evening climb.
Get there
Public transport and walking
Take bus routes such as 3, 10, or 13 to “Fengcai Tower Station” or “Dongdi Middle Road Station,” then walk to the tower. A taxi from Shaoguan Station to the old city takes about 10–15 minutes. Fengcai Tower works well as the start or end of an old-city route.
Driving
Navigate to Huicheng Cultural Plaza Parking or another public parking area nearby. Roads and spaces in the old city become tight at busy times. Park once and walk between the sights instead of moving the car for every street corner.
Know before you go
Closures and climbing
The square can still be viewed on Mondays, but climbing, the indoor exhibition, and possible stamp services do not follow the normal weekday schedule. Entry ends at 16:00. If you arrive in the afternoon, confirm that climbing is still available before arranging snacks and street photography.
Stairs and weather
The indoor stairs are steep, so comfortable shoes matter more than dress shoes that are difficult to walk in. Bring sun protection in summer. At night, take photos from the square and public paths; do not step into the traffic lane to frame the tower and a passing car together.
Old-city combinations
Centennial East Street, Shaozhou Prefectural Academy, and Shaoguan Museum can form a city-culture route, but each has different closing times. Fengcai Tower is the old-city landmark, so use its full name rather than replacing it with a generic “tower” or “museum.”
