Maba Man Ruins Park is on Shiyan Road in Maba Town, Qujiang District, Shaoguan. Navigate to “Maba Man Ruins Park” or “Maba Man Shixia Ruins.” The park is open 08:00–17:30, Maba Man Museum is open 09:00–17:00, and Lion Rock Cave stops admitting visitors at 16:40.
The park, museum, and cave are currently free to enter, but their hours differ. A light visit takes about 1.5–2 hours; adding the cave and mountain paths calls for about 3 hours. Cave commentary usually waits until enough visitors form a group, with one group released every 20 minutes.
Visit boundaries
This is a good setting for an educational visit focused on archaeology, early humans, and karst landforms. The main stops are the museum, Lion Rock Cave, the village area, and the front-hill paths. Ordinary visitors should prioritize open, managed areas; wild caves and unmanaged exploration are not the default route.

Early humans and archaeology
The main subjects are early-human fossils, stone tools, and the archaeological material around Lion Rock Cave. The museum explains the historical background, while the cave and ruins park show the relationship between the karst landscape and the site itself. It suits visitors who want to understand natural and human history together.
Caves and front-hill scenery
Lion Rock Cave, Guihua Cave, Zhaoyin Temple, and the summit viewpoint bring caves, limestone, temple architecture, and mountain views into one visit. Cave entry follows group schedules, and slippery stone steps add difficulty. Not every part is walk-in at any time, and the route is not entirely flat.
Who it suits
The park's gentler areas suit families and older adults. The cave and front-hill walk are better for visitors with basic fitness. Ordinary visitors should focus on the open museum, cave, and paths rather than exploring wild caves or unmanaged routes independently.

A good order is “Main Gate → Museum → Ginkgo Road → Shiyan Spring → Village Area → Fengdu Study Room → Exit.” Starting with the museum provides the historical background before you decide whether to continue to the longer cave and mountain sections.
Deeper sequence
Adjust the deeper route to “Ruins Cave → Guihua Cave → Summit Viewpoint → Zhaoyin Temple → Village Area → Museum,” depending on the day's cave queues. If the wait is long, complete the museum and park paths first rather than spending so long at the cave entrance that you reach closing time.
Get there
Driving and public transport
Navigate to the archway beside the park's main entrance. A large free parking area is on the left side of the gate. From Shaoguan, take bus routes 302, 306, or 310 to “Lion Rock Station.” A taxi from Shaoguan Station takes about 20 minutes.
After arriving, check the cave release and commentary schedule at the entrance before choosing the route order. There is no large restaurant in the park, so bring water and simple food rather than relying on last-minute purchases.
Know before you go
Cave queues and cutoff time
Cave commentary runs in groups. The hour, 20-minute, and 40-minute departures are only reference timings; do not treat the 17:00 group as a guarantee that late arrivals can still enter. Because cave admission stops earlier, aim to reach the entrance at least one hour in advance.
Equipment and restrictions
The cave steps and floor may be slippery, so wear shoes with good grip. In summer, bring insect repellent. Pets are explicitly restricted at the entrance, so visitors with pets need another plan. Supplies in the park are limited; bring water and a small amount of food.
Difference from Nanhua Temple
The Maba Man Ruins are an archaeology park, cave, and museum route. Nanhua Temple is a separate Buddhist temple. They can be visited together, but the temple's incense, vegetarian food, and photography rules do not apply to the ruins route.
