The 108 steps
The 108 Steps (一百零八蹬) on the Spirit Way climb from level ground to the Shengong Shengde Stele Pavilion (神功圣德碑亭) on the hillside. This is one of the mausoleum's most distinctive walking sections. The steps are steep, so this route suits visitors who are comfortable with a climb and want to see the tomb's central axis and hillside setting.
Mausoleum buildings
Along the Spirit Way, you can see the stone archway (石牌坊), Zhenghong Gate (正红门), Long'en Hall (隆恩殿) and Daming Tower (大明楼). The more detailed route also passes through the walled precinct (方城) and east and west side halls. From in front of Daming Tower, you can look toward the burial mound; entry to individual buildings depends on the areas open and the barriers in place that day.
Country park and Lotus Lake
The neighboring Dongling Country Park has a century-old pine grove and can be visited as a separate walk. Lotus Lake Park (荷花湖公园) is near Metro Exit B and has lotus flowers in summer. Neither park is part of Qing Fuling's paid mausoleum route.
For a separate imperial-mausoleum visit in Shenyang, see Beiling Park and Qing Zhaoling Mausoleum.
Build your day
Short visit
Enter through Zhenghong Gate (正红门). Follow the Spirit Way (神道) past the stone figures and animals and climb the 108 Steps (一百零八蹬) to the Shengong Shengde Stele Pavilion (神功圣德碑亭). Continue toward the walled precinct (方城) and Long'en Hall (隆恩殿), then finish near Daming Tower (大明楼). This route is suited to visitors focusing on the buildings' exteriors and the mausoleum's central axis.
Detailed visit
For a closer visit, walk north from Zhenghong Gate along the Spirit Way, climb the 108 Steps and pass the stele pavilion before entering the walled precinct. Focus on Long'en Hall, the east and west side halls and the area around Daming Tower, then look toward Baocheng (宝城) and the burial mound (宝顶). Allow about 1.5 hours; the steps are steep, so take them at a comfortable pace.
Return and extension
After the visit, follow open paths back to the site exit; the exact route depends on the areas open that day. Once outside the mausoleum precinct, decide whether to continue on foot to Dongling Country Park. Both the park and mausoleum involve considerable walking, so plan your energy accordingly.
Get there
Metro and bus
Take Metro Line 1 to Dongling Park (东陵公园) Station and walk about 8 minutes from Exit A to the park's main gate. Buses 168, 218 and 318 stop at “东陵公园站” (Dongling Park); follow the Qing Fuling entrance signs from the stop.
Nearby areas
Qing Fuling is next to Dongling Country Park, while Lotus Lake Park is near Metro Exit B. The three places have different entrances and ticket boundaries, so search for each destination by name.

Steps and seasonal conditions
The 108 steps are steep, and snow or ice may make them slippery in winter and early spring. Walk slowly and wear shoes with good grip. No accessible alternative route around the steps is described; wheelchair users should ask the site in advance about access.
Supplies and nearby food
Yang Baisui Lamb Soup (羊百岁羊汤馆) is an option after visiting the mausoleum; Lotus Lake Park has snack stalls. Check the opening hours and fees for nearby food and parking on site.
