First-floor snack streets and the Liyuan Shengshi Stage (梨园盛世)
Pianyi Street (便宜街) and Nostalgia Workshop Street (乡愁作坊街) have snack stalls and displays of old objects. The Liyuan Shengshi Stage often hosts shadow puppetry, Pingju opera (评剧) and Laoting drum (乐亭大鼓) performances. Shows are usually scheduled in time slots, and common performances do not require a separate ticket; check the day’s program for details.
The library and Tangshan Dialect Wall (唐山话墙) on the second floor
The Yaoji Library (遥记图书馆) has a circular wall of books, and the atrium below can be viewed from the railing. The Tangshan Dialect Wall is a place to learn about the local dialect and take photos. A cultural-products shop on the second floor offers stamp-collecting; check whether stamps are available and free that day.
The third-floor atrium and Datang Zhoufu
The third floor has the Datang Zhoufu dining area. Even if you are not dining there, you can look down into the atrium from the corridor. If you are making a brief visit, prioritize the first-floor stage and snack streets, then go upstairs to the library or dialect wall.
An indoor outing for food and performances
Visitors interested in local snacks, traditional opera or indoor photo spots can visit Tangshan Banquet before or after a walk at South Lake (南湖). Families can choose a couple of snacks, watch a performance and take photos on the second floor. On busy weekends, collecting food and finding a seat can take longer.
Build your day
A 1–1.5-hour short route
Enter through the main entrance on the first floor. Walk along Pianyi Street and Nostalgia Workshop Street to see the snacks and old-object displays, then stop at the Liyuan Shengshi Stage. Continue upstairs to the Yaoji Library or Tangshan dialect wall. When you are done, follow the on-site directions downstairs to leave, or buy snacks on the first floor.
A complete 2–3-hour visit
Start with the first-floor snack streets, choose one or two snacks, then watch a performance at the Liyuan Shengshi Stage. On the second floor, visit Yanshan Academy (燕山书院), the old-object displays, the Yaoji Library and the Tangshan Dialect Wall; stop at the cultural-products shop for stamps if you like. Finish on the third floor at Datang Zhoufu and the atrium, then return to the first floor for souvenirs or a meal.
Combine with South Lake or Hetou Old Street (河头老街)
Tangshan Banquet is about 1 km from South Lake; you can make separate stops for an indoor meal and an outdoor walk, as the two have separate entrances and operations. If combining Tangshan Banquet and Hetou Old Street on the same day, plan your meal at Tangshan Banquet according to its hours that day, then leave Hetou Old Street for an evening visit. The drive is about 20 minutes, depending on traffic.
