Location, booking and hours
Weifang Kite Museum is at 66 Xingzheng Street in Kuiwen District, Weifang. The entrance is on the south side of the building, facing Kite Square. Admission is free. Visitors can book through the “Weifang Culture and Tourism” WeChat account or scan the code on site.
The museum is open Tuesday to Sunday from 09:00 to 16:30. Same-day last admission may be 16:00 or 16:30; it is closed on Mondays except public holidays. Allow about 1 hour for the main first-floor exhibitions or 1.5–2 hours for the complete first- and second-floor route.
What to focus on
Kite Square, the museum atrium and the roof are useful photography subjects. The first-floor exhibitions are the best introduction for a first visit. Families can begin with the history and kite collections, then decide whether to try a making activity or other interactive programme if it is open that day.

History and Weifang kite collections
The first-floor Kite History and Culture Exhibition explains the origins, development and exchange of kite traditions. The Weifang Kite Collection shows traditional forms such as swallow kites and “Crane and Child.” The huge dragon-headed centipede kite hanging in the atrium is the most prominent display and works well for an upward-looking photograph.
World kites and the building
The World Kite Collection includes kites from countries and regions including the United States, Japan and South Korea. The second-floor gallery looks down into the atrium and across the building structure. After leaving, look back at the ceramic dragon running along the roof.
Visitors interested in kite history, folk culture and architectural photography can take the complete route. With limited time, prioritize the first-floor history and Weifang collections and the atrium rather than shortening the main exhibitions for commercial interactive activities.

About 1 hour for the highlights
Start on the second-floor gallery and look down through the glass at the atrium. Return to the first floor for the Kite History and Culture Exhibition and the Weifang Kite Collection, then finish with another look at the dragon-headed centipede kite in the atrium.
This route prioritizes history, local collections and the atrium for visitors with limited time or another stop at Shihu Garden. Second-floor interactive and commercial experiences depend on the day’s opening arrangements and do not replace the first-floor exhibitions.
1.5–2-hour complete route
Start on the first floor and follow the clockwise route through the Kite History and Culture Exhibition, the Weifang Kite Collection and the World Kite Collection. Continue upstairs to the International Kite Festival Exhibition and the World Countries’ Gift Exhibition, then finish at the shop.
Use the atrium for photos between floors, and the second-floor gallery for views of the kites and architectural lines. If the day’s last-admission time is close to 16:00, finish the main first-floor galleries before deciding whether there is time for the second floor.
Get there
Public transport and arrival
Buses 2, 5 and 9, among others, stop at “Kite Square.” Weifang Station is about a 10-minute taxi ride away.
Driving and nearby stops
You can try the museum’s on-site parking lot, but holiday spaces are tight and the entrance may be congested. Taking the bus or parking nearby and walking is often easier. After the museum, Kite Square provides a place to rest before continuing to Shihu Garden or another city attraction.

Free entry and last admission
The museum is free, but complete the booking or on-site QR registration required that day. It is closed on Mondays except public holidays. Last admission may be 16:00 or 16:30, so afternoon visitors should confirm the entrance status before travelling across the city.
Holiday parking
Do not make the museum’s own car park your only holiday plan. Kite Square is the more dependable bus anchor, and families or visitors carrying camera equipment should plan the short walk from the bus stop or nearby parking area.
Exhibitions and photography
The exhibition halls and atrium are the main visit. VR and DIY activities depend on the day’s opening arrangements. For the exterior, face the building from Kite Square to see the ceramic dragon on the roof; inside, follow the gallery’s photography rules.
