Entrance and tickets
Yunmen Mountain Scenic Area is entered through the South Gate. Use “Yunmen Mountain Ticket Office P1 Parking Lot” as the driving destination. In the high season, from March 1 to November 30, the adult ticket is CNY 60; in the low season, from December 1 to the end of February, it is CNY 50. Students receive half-price admission, and some seniors, children and active-duty military personnel are admitted free with valid documents.
Reference opening hours are 06:30–17:30. No advance booking is required; visitors can scan to pay at the site or buy at the ticket office. The entire visit is on foot and there is no cable car. Allow about 1–1.5 hours for the short route or 2–3 hours for the full route.
Walking effort
The main climb from the South Gate follows the “999-Step Longevity Road.” The route is clear, but both ascent and descent use stone steps. The short route suits visitors who want the “Longevity” inscription, Yunmen Cave and the summit; allow 2–3 hours for Donglangfeng Pavilion and Wan Chun Cave, with extra time for the descent.

The “World’s First Longevity” inscription and Yunmen Cave
The large “Longevity” inscription carved into the mountainside is Yunmen Mountain’s main cultural landmark. The inscription is about 7.5 metres high. Yunmen Cave is near the summit of Dayunding; mist is more likely to pass through the opening on summer or autumn mornings and after rain, but conditions change from day to day.
Summit views and the rear trail
Donglangfeng Pavilion looks over Qingzhou Ancient City, the surrounding hills and the fields. Wan Chun Cave on the rear trail contains a reclining statue of Chen Tuan. Photographers can use an upward angle below the inscription, frame the landscape through Yunmen Cave, and decide at the summit whether to continue to Donglangfeng Pavilion and Wan Chun Cave.
Yunmen Mountain suits visitors looking for a moderate hike, cliff inscriptions or a view over Qingzhou. The mountain is not high, but there is no cable car, so older visitors and children should be comfortable with the steps before choosing the full route.
Build your day
1–1.5-hour short route
Enter through the South Gate and follow the 999-Step Longevity Road past Wangshou Pavilion, the “World’s First Longevity” inscription and Yunmen Cave. Continue to the summit of Dayunding, then return by the same route.
This route concentrates on the main peak and the Longevity landmarks for visitors with limited time. The steps may be slippery on the descent, so allow more time downhill than uphill rather than estimating the whole visit from the ascent alone.
2–3-hour main route
From the South Gate, first go to Guanshou Pavilion for a distant view of the inscription. Continue past Wangshou Pavilion, the “World’s First Longevity” inscription, Yunmen Cave and the summit of Dayunding. Then walk to Donglangfeng Pavilion for the Qingzhou panorama and, if the trail is open and your group still has energy, continue to Wan Chun Cave before returning by the rear trail or the original route.
Donglangfeng Pavilion and Wan Chun Cave come after the main summit sights, so add them only after completing the core route. There is no cable car or other transport to replace the walk down, and the return time should be based on the full route.

Driving and public transport
Drivers should use the Yunmen Mountain Ticket Office P1 Parking Lot, then walk to the South Gate trailhead. From Qingzhou city, take a bus to the “Yunmen Mountain Scenic Area” stop and walk to the entrance.
Combining nearby sights
Yunmen Mountain, Qingzhou Ancient City and Tuo Mountain are separate attractions with separate entrances and tickets. If you visit more than one in a day, arrange food, water and the transfer between sites at the foot of the mountain rather than treating them as one walking route.
Know before you go
Shoes and supplies
The full visit is on foot, so wear shoes with good grip. Supplies on the mountain are limited; bring drinking water and a small snack. Summer and autumn mornings, or a clear period after rain, offer better chances of mist at Yunmen Cave, but wet steps are also more slippery.
Timing and photography
The summit and stair sections are not suitable for rushed photography. The inscription, Yunmen Cave and Donglangfeng Pavilion are connected by uphill and downhill sections, so set the pace for the slowest member of the group. Reference hours are 06:30–17:30; if you arrive in the afternoon, confirm ticketing and entry before starting the climb.
