Location and ticket structure
Red Sorghum Film City is in Shakouzi Village, Shugang Logistics Park, Gaomi, Weifang. Navigate directly to “Red Sorghum Film City.” Several free parking lots are available. From Gaomi Station or Gaomi South Station, a taxi takes about 30–40 minutes; driving from Weifang or Qingdao takes about 1–1.5 hours.
The basic admission ticket, online discount tickets and packages that include the live show “Red Sorghum” are different products, and their prices and combinations change. Discounts for seniors, children, military personnel and other eligible groups depend on the day’s documents and on-site rules, so do not use one discount as a permanent ticket assumption.
Reference daytime hours are 08:30–17:00. Summer and public holidays may bring evening sessions extending past 21:00; show times and night operations follow the day’s announcement. Allow 2–3 hours for Gaomi Old Town and Aotou Fort, or 4–5 hours if you add interactive activities, the pet area, intangible-heritage activities and the live show.
Walking effort
The park is large, with many stone paths and dirt slopes. Walkers should wear flat shoes with good grip. An electric mobility cart may be available for approximately CNY 99 per day, which can help families with children or groups with different stamina levels.

Gaomi Old Town and Aotou Fort
Gaomi Old Town recreates Republican-era streets, post offices and shops. Aotou Fort includes the Shan Family Courtyard, Jiu’er’s wedding room and a distillery among its film sets. Visitors interested in literature, film and historic street scenes can make these two areas the focus of a first visit.
Interactive, craft and family activities
The park has interactive performers and a “silver note” game. Depending on the day’s programme, visitors can join poetry, games and exchanges. The pet area, paper cutting and clay work suit families; explosions and live performances may be loud for young children, so read the safety information before joining.
Seasonal scenery such as the rapeseed flower fields appears only during its flowering period, so decide whether to include it after seeing the day’s conditions. Mo Yan’s Former Residence is about 500 metres outside the park and is a separate literary extension, not part of the film-city route.
Build your day
2–3-hour core route
Enter the park and walk through Gaomi Old Town and its Republican-era street, then continue to Aotou Fort to see the Shan Family Courtyard, distillery and other sets before returning toward the exit.
This route suits visitors with limited time who mainly want the film locations. The park is large, so check the exit and show timetable first, then decide whether to add an interactive activity without crossing the same ground repeatedly to catch a session.
4–5-hour full route
Start in Gaomi Old Town, continue through the Shan Family Courtyard, wedding room and distillery in Aotou Fort, then join the silver-note game, pet area and intangible-heritage activities if they are open. Finish with the live performance “Red Sorghum.”
Check the show times and park map as soon as you enter, and build the fixed session into the route. A mobility cart can reduce long walks, but boarding points and permitted operating areas follow the day’s on-site arrangements.
Get there
Arrival and parking
Drivers can navigate directly to Red Sorghum Film City; several free parking lots are available. From Gaomi Station or Gaomi South Station, take a taxi for about 30–40 minutes. Public-transport visitors still need to arrange the final taxi connection.
Moving around and the nearby residence
Inside the park, visitors mainly walk or rent an electric mobility cart, which costs approximately CNY 99 per day. The entrance, show venue, pet area and Aotou Fort are spread out, so follow the designated roads when collecting or returning the cart.
Mo Yan’s Former Residence is about 500 metres away and can be visited as a separate extension. It does not share the film city’s ticket, entrance or show schedule.

Basic admission, performance tickets, packages, online discounts and night operations change frequently. Confirm the day’s ticket type and show schedule before entering. “Red Sorghum” has previously had sessions around 11:00 and 14:00, but times change by date; use the day’s timetable once inside.
Surfaces and family safety
Stone paths and dirt slopes make the visit tiring, so wear flat shoes. Families with children can consider a mobility cart. Explosions, loud sound and crowd-interaction activities may not suit young children; read the safety notices before entering each programme.
Food and seasonal arrangements
Food and snack stalls are spread around the park, so bring water and a small snack if needed. Summer night sessions, flower periods and group discounts follow the day’s announcement and valid documents; do not plan the whole year around one seasonal programme.
