Entrance, tickets and hours
Shimenfang Scenic Area is in Tanma Village, Linqu, Weifang. The main entrance has a parking lot; parking is approximately CNY 10 per vehicle. The adult ticket is CNY 40. A one-way sightseeing bus costs CNY 10 and can take visitors from the parking lot to the trailhead, saving about 20 minutes of walking.
Opening hours are 08:30–17:30, with last admission at 16:00. Allow about 2 hours for the autumn-colour and main-view route, or 3–4 hours if you add rock carvings, temples, glass viewpoints and aerial activities. The main red-leaf period is from late October to early November and lasts only a few weeks.
Choosing a route
During the red-leaf season, focus on the Scenic Corridor, viewpoints and Shimen scenery. Outside the season, build the route around cliff carvings, the Three-Stone Shrine, Chongsheng Temple and the canyon caves. The glass viewing platform, rafting and other aerial activities are not included in the base ticket.

Red leaves and valley views
The Huanglu forest is Shimenfang’s seasonal highlight, with the best chance of continuous autumn colour from late October to early November. The Scenic Corridor and main viewpoint look across the valley, while the Bell Corridor has lower trees and works better for close observation and portraits.
Rock carvings, caves and temples
The cliff carvings, Three-Stone Shrine, Chongsheng Temple, Long Cave, Sanyuan Cave and Immortal Cave suit history and hiking visitors. With enough stamina, add them beyond the red-leaf route. Families or visitors focused only on autumn colour will find the shorter route easier to manage.
Build your day
About 2 hours for the autumn route
Start at the trailhead, follow the Scenic Corridor to Xuande Pagoda, continue to the main viewpoint and Shimen scenery, then return along the main path. If needed, take the one-way sightseeing bus from the parking lot to the trailhead; allow time to walk back down the stone steps.
During the red-leaf season, place the viewpoint and corridor in the morning or softer afternoon light. Weekend crowds can lengthen the wait for parking and the trailhead, even on the short route.
3–4-hour rock-carving and aerial route
From the trailhead, pass the Bell Corridor, Xuande Pagoda and Shimen scenery, then continue to the Three-Stone Shrine, cliff carvings and Chongsheng Temple. If open, continue to the glass viewing platform, Sky Walk and aerial rafting area.
High-altitude glass rafting is an extra activity rather than part of the base ticket. If the stone steps and walkways are wet after rain, shorten the route or skip the aerial activity and return by the safe main path.
Get there
Arrival and internal transport
Drivers can navigate to the main entrance parking lot of Shimenfang Scenic Area. From Qingzhou Station, take Bus 9 or a taxi; the ride takes approximately 30–40 minutes.
Inside the scenic area, the one-way sightseeing bus can take visitors from the parking lot to the trailhead, while the mountain section is mainly on foot. During the red-leaf season, allow for parking queues, bus waits and the 16:00 last-admission time.
Know before you go
Seasonal timing
The best red-leaf period is usually late October to early November and often lasts only two or three weeks. In other seasons, plan around the mountain, rock carvings and temples rather than expecting the same autumn colours.
Shoes and food
The trails use stone steps, with some steep sections that become slippery after rain. Wear shoes with good grip. Check packaging and condition before buying snacks on the mountain, and bring water before entering.
Separate charges and last entry
The entrance ticket, sightseeing bus and high-altitude glass rafting are charged separately. Last admission is at 16:00; afternoon visitors should confirm the ticketing and final-entry arrangements before choosing the 3–4-hour route.
