How to Visit
1

Pick escalator or walking route

The escalator package saves the uphill climb. Walking the boardwalk is cheaper but harder at altitude.

Tip:The escalator mainly helps with the uphill section, so you still need to walk down and around the viewpoint.
2

Time the visit around sunset if weather is clear

The river bend is strongest in late light. Arrive early enough to reach the viewpoint without rushing.

Tip:If cloud or haze blocks the river bend, the paid viewpoint is less rewarding.
3

Use the official viewpoint first

Start with the main viewing platform above Tangke, then decide whether to explore lower boardwalks or nearby grassland areas.

Tip:Do not walk off marked paths near slopes.
4

Bring food and return before fatigue builds

Food inside can be limited and more expensive than town. The area is high, windy, and exposed.

Tip:Bring water and snacks from town if you do not want to depend on limited scenic-area food.
Highlights
  • Elevated view over the Yellow River's broad bend near Tangke
  • Good sunset stop when weather is clear
  • Escalator option for reducing the uphill climb
  • Strong pairing with Ruoergai Flower Lake and grassland routes
Insider Tips

Budget the escalator separately if you do not want to climb.

Sunset visitors should bring a warm layer for the wait and descent.

Altitude is around 3,500 m; walk steadily.

Carry snacks instead of depending on viewpoint food stalls.

Agree on a pickup point with your driver before going up, because the lower exit and parking areas are not always obvious after sunset.
