Choosing an entrance
Yellow Crane Tower (黄鹤楼) is at No. 1, Xishanpo, Sheshan, Wuchang District. The South Gate is near the metro and works well for a complete route through the main tower and the park's principal sights. The West Gate is closer to Wuhan Yangtze River Bridge and Simenkou, so it fits better before or after those stops.
The South Gate suits a main-tower-focused visit; the West Gate connects more naturally with the bridge and Simenkou. The park has many steps, and exposed sections can be very sunny in summer.
Tickets and hours
A daytime full ticket currently costs CNY 70, with a CNY 35 student or senior ticket. Night Tour of Yellow Crane Tower is sold separately: it currently costs about CNY 120 from Sunday to Thursday and about CNY 150 on Friday, Saturday, and public holidays. Day and night tickets are not interchangeable.
The current daytime schedule is 08:30–18:00, with ticket sales ending at 17:00 and entry ending at 17:20. Night tours currently run 19:30–22:00, with entry ending at 21:30. Reservations and ticket purchases are handled through the official “Yellow Crane Tower Park” WeChat account; recheck the day's price, session, and entry cutoff before setting out.

The main tower and historical sights
On Floor 1, the main tower has the mural “White Clouds and Yellow Cranes”; Floor 2 displays models of Yellow Crane Tower through the centuries; Floor 5 has a 360° viewing platform overlooking the Yangtze River Bridge and the three historic towns of Wuhan — Wuchang, Hankou, and Hanyang. Goose Pond and the Poetry Stele Gallery work well before the climb, leaving more time for the tower itself.
If you have more energy, add Luomeixuan and Baiyun Pavilion to the same visit. The chime-bell performance at Luomeixuan follows the day's programme, with the current timetable listing 10:00, 11:30, 14:00, and 15:30. Check the session after arrival and fit it around the tower visit.
Photo spots and who will enjoy it
The red wall near Exit C of Simenkou Yellow Crane Tower Station is a popular photo location and can become crowded; commercial photo shoots may occupy the area for a while. Yanzhi Fudao (胭脂浮岛) inside the park offers another red-wall and layered-landscape setting. The side of Exit B2 at Pengliuyang Station is better for the south face of the tower, while Desheng Bridge and the Yangtze River Bridge offer wider views.
The site suits visitors interested in history, traditional architecture, and city photography. If your energy is limited, focus on Goose Pond, the Poetry Stele Gallery, and the main tower's principal floors.
Build your day
Short route: South Gate in, about 1–1.5 hours
Enter through the South Gate, pass Goose Pond and the Poetry Stele Gallery, then climb the main tower. If time is tight, focus on Floors 1–5 and the viewing platform on Floor 5. Return the way you came or follow the day's exit signs; decide whether to add the chime-bell performance after checking its session.
This route suits a first visit or a day that also includes Hubu Alley and the 1911 Revolution Museum. If you want the red-wall photo at Exit C, take that photo first and then continue to the South Gate.
Highlights route: South Gate in, West Gate out, about 2–3 hours
Enter through the South Gate and follow Goose Pond → Poetry Stele Gallery → main tower → Luomeixuan → Baiyun Pavilion, then leave through the West Gate. If you want the chime-bell performance, check Luomeixuan's session after entering and decide how to order your time at the tower and Luomeixuan. From the West Gate, you can continue toward the bridge or Simenkou.
This route links the park's main buildings and viewpoints in one direction from the South Gate to the West Gate. Crowds, programme timing, and temporary barriers may change the order; follow staff instructions. If a bell session conflicts with the main-tower visit, finish the main tower first, then decide whether there is enough time for the performance.
Get there
Metro and bus
Take Line 5 to Pengliuyang Station (彭刘杨站), Exit B1 or B2, then walk about 9 minutes to the South Gate. This is the shorter approach and works well for a direct park visit. If you want the red-wall photo first, use Simenkou Yellow Crane Tower Station (司门口黄鹤楼站), Exit C, then walk to the photo spot and continue to an entrance.
Buses 10, 61, and 401 stop at “Yellow Crane Tower Station.” Choose the South Gate or West Gate as the navigation target according to your route: the South Gate is for the main visit, while the West Gate connects better with the bridge. They are separate arrival points.
Driving and nearby combinations
If driving, use “Yellow Crane Tower Parking Lot” as a navigation target, but nearby spaces are limited and availability and charges depend on the day. The roads around the park and bridgehead are not suitable for brief roadside stops; public transport avoids much of the parking pressure.
Yellow Crane Tower can be combined with the 1911 Revolution Museum and the bridge as a Wuchang–Hanyang history route. The Red Building is currently about a 10-minute walk from Yellow Crane Tower. Liangdao Street works for hot dry noodles and youbing-baoshaomai; Qingchuan Pavilion fits well after crossing the river for views.
Know before you go
Walking, weather, and photos
There are many steps in the park, and exposed sections are noticeably sunny in summer. Wear supportive, comfortable shoes and bring sun protection. When taking photos from the Yangtze River Bridge or Desheng Bridge, stay in the pedestrian area and keep your camera and body behind the barrier.
The red-wall area at Exit C may have a queue or commercial photo shoots. Yanzhi Fudao and the side of Pengliuyang Station are useful alternatives. Some audio-guide devices may use a single-ear earpiece; confirm prices and condition before buying snacks or cultural products.
Night touring and onward plans
Night Tour of Yellow Crane Tower focuses on lighting and live programmes and feels different from a daytime tower visit. Prices are usually higher on weekends and public holidays, and crowds may also be heavier. Whether the main-tower elevator operates, along with the programme and entry flow, depends on the product page and the day's on-site arrangement.
Both daytime and night visits have stop-entry cutoffs, and the chime-bell performance runs on changing sessions. If you continue to Liangdao Street or the riverfront after leaving, include the exit, street-crossing, and transfer time in your plan; arrive for the night tour according to the ticketed time.
