Kongmu River National Wetland Park is on Xinxin North Avenue in Yushui District, Xinyu, and has several entrances. Families with children can start near the Northeast Gate, where the man-made beach and lawn are located; the East Gate is a practical target for the large lawn and wetland paths.
Tickets and hours
Entry is free, no booking is required, and the park is open all day. The gates lead to different activity areas, so choose the entrance according to whether you want the family area or a longer wetland walk.
How long to allow
Allow about 1 hour for the beach, lawn, and play area near the Northeast Gate. If you want the wooden boardwalk, birdwatching platform, and waterfront platform, allow 2–3 hours; the paths are mostly flat, but the park is large and walking back to your chosen entrance takes time.

Wetland and boardwalk scenery
Reeds, dawn redwoods, and open water define the park’s main wetland landscape, while the wooden boardwalk leads into the wetland. The birdwatching platform is a place to pause along the water and woodland edge, and the waterfront platform works well for a short river-view stop.
Family areas
Near the Northeast Gate there is a man-made beach, lawn, slide, and seesaw area. Let children play there first, then decide whether to continue to the boardwalk; check the sand before barefoot play and keep children close beside the water.
Seasonal views and who it suits
The Rainbow Bridge and cherry-blossom path may be attractive in spring, while the dawn redwoods may turn colour in autumn and winter. Conditions depend on the season and weather; the park suits families, birdwatchers, nature photographers, and visitors who prefer a flat walk.

Family short route: about 1 hour
Enter through the Northeast Gate, spend time at the man-made beach and lawn, then visit the children’s play area and make a quick stop at the wetland education hall. Finish at the waterfront platform and leave toward the Northeast Gate; if the children only want the beach, shorten the other stops and keep the return simple.
Full wetland route: about 2–3 hours
Enter through the Northeast or East Gate, start with the beach or the large East Gate lawn, then follow the wooden boardwalk into the wetland. Pause at the birdwatching platform and finish with a walk around the water to the waterfront platform, returning through the exit on the same side as your chosen start.
Birdwatching and photography pace
The birdwatching platform rewards a slower stop, while the boardwalk gives photographs more depth. Cherry blossoms and the colour of the dawn redwoods depend on season, weather, and current conditions; place the observation and photography stops in the middle of the route, then return to the waterfront platform instead of making repeated detours.

Public transport
Bus routes 102, 305, and 803 can be used for the journey toward the park, but different routes serve different stops and entrances. After getting off, continue navigating to “Northeast Gate” or “East Gate” and follow the path signs into the park.
Parking
Free car parks are available around the park. Families can look for parking near the Northeast Gate, while visitors planning the boardwalk can consider the East Gate side; remember the gate name because the entrances are not close to one another.
Moving around and returning
The park is mainly explored on foot, and the paths are generally flat for walking or jogging. Choose the entrance and return side before starting; the Northeast Gate family area and East Gate lawn can be visited separately when time is limited.
Know before you go
Water and beach safety
Some waterside sections do not have full barriers, so keep children close at the beach, waterfront platform, and lakeside. The sand may contain small pieces of litter or debris; check the ground before children play barefoot and bring something to clean their feet.
Mosquitoes and sun
Wetland mosquitoes are common, so carry insect repellent. Bring sun protection for the boardwalk and lawn on clear days; after rain, wooden paths and the waterfront platform may be slippery.
Birdwatching, photos, and food
Egrets and kingfishers may appear in the wetland, but sightings depend on time and weather. After leaving the park, you can visit Ganxi Folk Customs Street for Xinyu fried rice noodles, mala-style duck snacks (麻辣鸭三件), and other local snacks; do not rely on finding food or drinks inside the park.
