Location and entrance
Xiabu Embroidery Museum is at Century Qinghua 666, Changlin Road, Yushui District, Xinyu. The entrance is on Changlin Road; search for “Xiabu Embroidery Museum” (夏布绣博物馆). It is a two-storey building, and the visit mainly involves stairs.
Tickets and hours
Admission is free and no advance booking is required. The museum is open Tuesday to Sunday, 8:30–17:30, and closed on Mondays. The DIY area is not open every day, so ask by phone in advance if the hands-on activity matters to your visit.
How long to allow
The museum is small and takes about 30–45 minutes on its own. If you are travelling from Ganxi War of Resistance Museum to Changlin Road, allow about 1.5 hours for the two museum visits and the city transfer; any walk around Baoshi Park needs extra time.

Two works to prioritise
The double-sided Liren Xing (丽人行) screen presents Tang-dynasty women on both sides of the ramie cloth and is worth seeing up close. The roughly 8-metre embroidered version of Along the River During the Qingming Festival (清明上河图) uses a stitch technique called toudi xushi zhen (透底虚实针) to depict Northern Song-era Bianjing and deserves a slower look.
Second-floor collection and design goods
The second floor holds traditional folk embroidery from Jiangxi, giving you a chance to compare the stitches, fabrics, and subjects of local handcrafts. The small design area includes bags, jewellery, and other items made with ramie cloth for a short stop at the end of the visit.
Who it suits
The museum suits visitors interested in intangible heritage, textile craft, and small museums, and the main displays fit into about half an hour. Visitors expecting a large comprehensive museum or a continuous step-free route should note the two-storey layout and lack of a lift before adding it to the day.

Museum short route: about 30 minutes
Start on the first floor with the Liren Xing (丽人行) double-sided screen, then take the stairs to the embroidered version of Along the River During the Qingming Festival (清明上河图) and traditional embroidery collection. Finish at the cultural and creative products area; this order moves from the material and screen work to the finer stitching upstairs.
Detailed visit: about 45 minutes
If textile technique interests you, spend longer with the screen on the first floor, compare the scroll and folk embroidery upstairs, and leave a few minutes for the design area. Plan the visit around the permanent displays; the DIY area depends on the day’s opening arrangement.
Connecting the two museums: about 1.5 hours
If you are leaving Ganxi War of Resistance Museum, travel to Changlin Road and allow 30–45 minutes for Xiabu Embroidery Museum. The 1.5-hour estimate covers the two museum visits and the city transfer; if you also want to explore Baoshi Park, allow extra time.
Get there
Navigation and public transport
Set the destination to “Xiabu Embroidery Museum” or Century Qinghua 666, Changlin Road; the entrance is on Changlin Road. The Baoshi Park bus stop (抱石公园站) can be a rough city-direction reference, but continue navigating to the museum name or address; the walk from the stop depends on the route and the day’s map.
Parking
There are only a few spaces at the entrance. The Longquwan open-air car park about 200 metres away can be used as a backup; parking is free for 30 minutes and has a typical rate of CNY 5 for up to 3 hours. Walk back to the museum along Changlin Road.
Leaving the museum
Leave through the Changlin Road entrance and arrange your next stop from the road outside. If Baoshi Park is next, the two sites are in separate areas, so you’ll need a separate ride between them.
Know before you go
Monday closure and DIY
The museum is closed on Mondays and open Tuesday to Sunday, 8:30–17:30. The DIY workshop does not run every day, so ask by phone before travelling if you want to take part; plan the visit around the permanent displays.
Stairs and access
The building has two floors and no lift, so visitors use stairs between the galleries. It is inconvenient for strollers and visitors with limited mobility; ask before departure whether another access option is available.
Photography and food
The entrance hall screen, second-floor embroidery, and gallery displays are the main photo settings, subject to the signs on site. After leaving, you can look for Mangzi soup noodles or Shuibei pickled rice noodles; allow separate time for a meal.
