The scenic area's Water Street, Yishi Shangshu Archway, Hu Clan Ancestral Hall, Hu Zongxian Shaobao Residence, Duxian Archway and the bridges near the village entrance are best visited as a walking sequence.

The short route takes about 1–1.5 hours, while the full route takes about 2–3 hours. Driving directly to the visitor centre is easiest. From Jixi North Railway Station, you can continue by bus or taxi; the journey takes about 20–30 minutes.

Ticket prices and opening hours

The standard ticket is about CNY 75, while online booking may be cheaper. Reservations are generally not required. The scenic area usually opens around 08:00–17:30; ticket prices, indoor-site access and temporary management arrangements follow the travel-date information.

Water Street and Huizhou architecture

Longdi Feng Street follows the river and is lined with Huizhou-style residences. Yishi Shangshu Archway is known for its Ming-dynasty stone carvings, the Hu Clan Ancestral Hall for its wood carvings and ancestral-hall setting, and Hu Zongxian Shaobao Residence for its historical background.

This route suits visitors interested in Huizhou architecture, ancestral-hall culture and local history. The scenic area is not very large, but its highlights are concentrated in architectural details and the waterside walk rather than natural mountain scenery.

Village bridges and panoramic viewpoints

Duxian Archway, Rainbow Bridge and the village's wooden bridge can be visited before or after the Water Street. Their architectural scale and photography angles are different. For a wider village view, follow the on-site signs to an observation point outside the paid scenic area near the visitor centre; enter the paid area through the visitor centre.

The Water Street is usually quieter in the early morning, making it a good time to photograph the riverside homes and everyday village scenes. Access to buildings, bridges and viewpoints follows the day's arrangements.

Build your day

Short route: Water Street to the village bridges

Enter from the visitor centre and walk along Longdi Feng Street. Visit Yishi Shangshu Archway, the Hu Clan Ancestral Hall and Hu Zongxian Shaobao Residence in sequence, then pass Duxian Archway on the way to Rainbow Bridge and the village's wooden bridge. The full walk takes about 1–1.5 hours.

Indoor sites such as the Hu Clan Ancestral Hall follow the day's opening hours. If you want more background on the buildings, ask about a guide service at the visitor centre or inside the scenic area, then choose how long to stay.

Full route: buildings, ancestral halls and Water Street

The full route follows visitor centre → Longdi Feng Street → Yishi Shangshu Archway → Hu Clan Ancestral Hall → Hu Zongxian Shaobao Residence → Duxian Archway → Rainbow Bridge and the village's wooden bridge. Walking along the Water Street first helps you get familiar with the village layout before entering the ancestral halls and residence.

The full route takes about 2–3 hours. Spending time photographing the wood carvings, stone carvings and bridges will add to the total visit time. Slow down near residential areas and do not stop in front of homes or in narrow passageways.

Get there

Drive to the visitor centre

Navigate to the Longchuan Scenic Area visitor-centre parking lot. Parking spaces and charges follow the on-site signs. The visitor centre is the main place to enter the paid scenic area, buy tickets and begin the Water Street route.

Transfer from Jixi North Railway Station

From Jixi North Railway Station, you can take a bus or taxi to the scenic area; the journey takes about 20–30 minutes. If you are not driving, arrange the return trip in advance, especially if you plan to spend longer inside the buildings or at viewpoints outside the scenic area.

Jixi town has more dining options than the area around the scenic site. For a full meal, consider eating in town before returning to the visitor centre or continuing to the next stop.

Know before you go

Indoor sites follow the day's opening arrangements

Opening hours for the Hu Clan Ancestral Hall, Hu Zongxian Shaobao Residence and other indoor sites may vary. If you want to see them all, confirm at the entrance whether these sites are open before choosing the order of the Water Street and indoor-building visits.

Tickets, food and parking

Use about CNY 75 as the standard ticket reference; online prices and temporary discounts may differ. Dining options in and around the scenic area are limited, and prices and flavours vary. Use the visitor-centre parking area or another clearly marked parking zone.
