Plan at a glance

The main entrance on the Yabuli side

The main visitor area on the Yabuli side of Hufengling is called “Hufengling Bojiwaizi Scenic Area.” Use this full name in your navigation app to avoid being directed to a different entrance on the Hengdaohezi side in Hailin City.

In summer, the main activity is walking along streams and wooden boardwalks. Winter visits usually combine a horse-drawn sleigh ride with the snow activities open that day; access and walkable sections vary with operations. Conditions, transport and activities differ by season, so plan accordingly.

Tickets, opening hours and time to allow

A summer hiking ticket is about CNY 36 per person. Winter packages are about CNY 268–289 and commonly list activities such as horse-drawn sleigh rides, snowmobiles and snow tubes. A ticket-and-sleigh combination is also listed at about CNY 78. Inclusions and prices can change.

Reservations are not required. Opening hours are generally 08:00–16:00. A summer short walk takes about one to two hours, and the full trail about three to four hours. A winter activity route takes about two to three hours, depending on the ticket and that day's operations; do not plan on a fixed winter hiking route.

Choose your visit

The Bojiwaizi trail in summer

In summer, the wooden boardwalk follows streams through the forest, passing water, rocks and wooded sections before climbing to a viewing tower over the forest canopy. Visitors who enjoy hiking, streams and natural scenery can take the full trail. If you have limited time or energy, walk as far as the first viewing platform or streamside area and return the way you came.

The streamside boardwalk, moss-covered rocks and fallen trees make natural photo subjects. After rain, mist around the waterfall and streams may be more visible, but the path can also be slippery. This route suits visitors who can manage wooden walkways and wear shoes with good grip.

The unfrozen river and snow activities in winter

Even in severe cold, flowing water can still be seen along the unfrozen river. Birch woods, snow and mist over the water are winter highlights. A horse-drawn sleigh can take visitors deeper into the scenic area. Check whether snowmobiles or snow tubes are included and how long they operate that day.

Winter suits visitors who want forest-and-snow scenery and are comfortable with basic facilities and vehicle transfers. Whether sleigh rides and snow activities are operating, and which areas they can reach, depend on the day's arrangements. Cold temperatures can drain camera and phone batteries quickly when photographing the riverbank and birch woods.

Build your day

A one- to two-hour summer short walk

Enter through the Yabuli-side Hufengling Bojiwaizi Scenic Area entrance. Follow the main boardwalk to the first viewing platform or streamside area, stop for a while and return along the same route. Allow about one to two hours. This works for visitors short on time or not planning to go all the way to the top.

The full summer trail or a winter activity route

The full summer trail takes about three to four hours. Follow the Bojiwaizi boardwalk through streams and forest to the viewing tower, then return along the routes open that day. Bring enough water and food before setting out; there are no shops on the mountain.

Winter visits differ from summer hikes and usually combine a horse-drawn sleigh ride with snow activities open that day. The activity route usually takes about two to three hours, but varies with the ticket and operations. For a shorter visit, reduce the number of activities and viewpoints; the way in and walkable sections depend on what is open that day.

Get there

Charter or taxi from Yabuli West Station

Take a high-speed train from Harbin to Yabuli West Station, then arrange a private car with a driver or take a taxi to “Hufengling Bojiwaizi Scenic Area.” There is no direct public transport to the scenic area. Agree on the journey time and fare with the driver before setting off.

Agree on round-trip transport in advance

Ride-hailing supply in the resort area is limited, and return trips from remote attractions are especially unreliable. Arrange a vehicle in advance if you plan to visit more than one place. Taxi pricing is not standardized, and fares can vary. Before leaving the station, agree with the driver on the round-trip price, waiting time and return time, and note the pickup location and fare.

If you are driving, ask the scenic area or your accommodation provider about parking and fees. If you arrange a private car with a driver from Yabuli West Station, agree on the travel time and fare with the driver before departure.

Know before you go

Winter activities and visitor capacity

Winter packages are about CNY 268–289, and inclusions and ride durations for snowmobiles, snow tubes and horse-drawn sleighs can vary. Some individual activities are brief. The ticket-and-sleigh combination is another option, usually around CNY 78. Check the activities, time allowed and return arrangements when buying; the price alone does not mean every activity will be operating that day.

Facilities in winter are basic, restroom options are limited and visitor capacity is limited. Queues may form when tour groups arrive together. Mountain temperatures are very low, so wear warm, windproof clothing and account for the effect of cold on your devices' battery life when planning photos.

Summer supplies and dining

Before a summer stream walk, bring enough water and food, insect repellent and sun protection. There are no shops on the mountain. Boardwalks, steps and rocks beside the stream can be slippery after rain. Follow the routes open on site; do not cross barriers or enter closed areas.

Dining options near the scenic area are limited. After your visit, you can return to Yabuli Town for Northeast Chinese dishes such as iron-pot stew or Guobaorou (crispy sweet-and-sour pork). If you also plan to visit the Panda House or Guokui Mountain that day, the attractions are far apart; arrange transport for the full itinerary and return journey in advance.
