A separate ski area focused on practice
The New Sports Committee ski area is part of the Heilongjiang Yabuli Sports Training Base, also known as the Heilongjiang Yabuli Ski Resort. The base is directly administered by the Heilongjiang Provincial Sports Bureau and is a national comprehensive snow-sports training base jointly established by the General Administration of Sport of China and Heilongjiang Province. It has a magic-carpet area at the base and the Y5 intermediate run, and has long served as a training base for professional athletes and a venue for competitions.
Yabuli introduced the Three-Mountain ski network from the 2025–2026 season. The New Sports Committee ski area is connected to Sunshine and other ski areas in the network. A Three-Mountain pass lets you ski across the areas covered by the ticket. Each operator also sells single-area tickets and packages; do not assume a package includes Three-Mountain access. A one-day Three-Mountain pass has been announced for the 2026–2027 season. Check the selected product and that day's openings for the runs and access it covers.
Three-hour tickets and ski-season dates
A three-hour beginner package is about CNY 138–220 and usually includes ski equipment, ski clothing and protective gear. A three-hour intermediate package is about CNY 208–280 and includes the cable car. Official reservations are not required, and online packages are often available. Check each included item and the area where the ticket can be used.
The ski season usually runs from mid-November to mid-March. Daytime operations are generally from 08:00 to 16:30, and the cable car usually stops at 16:30. Lessons cost extra, at about CNY 200–260 per hour. There is no single standard for walk-up ticket prices.

Choose your visit
The magic-carpet area and Y5 intermediate run
The magic-carpet slope at the base is wide and gentle, making it suitable for first-time skiers to practice standing, braking and turning. Y5 is one of the intermediate runs available to visitors at the New Sports ski area. It is about 1.6 km long, with a gentler second half that gives skiers who are just learning to link turns more time to slow down and regain control.
Families and complete beginners can start by getting comfortable with the basic movements here. Once you can ski parallel turns or change edges reliably, you can practice on Y5 or try runs in other Three-Mountain areas if your ticket includes Three-Mountain access and the connecting runs are open. The network includes runs of different difficulty levels, but the usable routes depend on your ticket, ability and that day's openings.
The training base and mountain views
The Heilongjiang Yabuli Sports Training Base, where the New Sports ski area is located, previously hosted the Third Asian Winter Games. You may sometimes see athletes training. The snow-sports venues and competition facilities serve professional training, so visitors should follow the signs showing where access is allowed. In the late afternoon, there may be opportunities to photograph the mountains and sunset from the middle section of Y5.
Three-Mountain access offers runs of different difficulty levels. Training zones, competition runs and connecting runs inside the New Sports Committee base may open or close according to training and event schedules. Check the on-site notice before skiing, and use only areas covered by your ticket that are open and suitable for your ability.

Build your day
A two- to three-hour short visit
Enter through the ski rental hall at the New Sports Committee base and choose a package for practice on the magic-carpet area at the base. If you already have basic control, take the cable car to Y5, complete one or two runs and repeat according to your energy. Allow about two to three hours, and remember that the cable car usually stops at 16:30.
Three to four hours for a lesson or more practice
Beginners can take a one- to two-hour lesson on the magic-carpet area, then practice independently after learning basic stance and braking. Lessons are about CNY 200–260 per hour; agree on the duration and content in advance. Allow about three to four hours for the lesson and practice together.
Visitors who already know the basics can take the cable car to practice on Y5. If the ticket includes Three-Mountain access and the connecting runs are open, follow that day's trail map to other areas. After skiing, return to the base by the route operating that day; confirm the cable car's downhill service before relying on it. Before leaving, confirm your onward transfer and where to return rented equipment.
Get there
From Yabuli West Station
Take a high-speed train from Harbin Station or Harbin West Station to Yabuli West Station; the journey takes about 1–1.5 hours. From the station, you can take a shuttle bus, for about CNY 5–10, or a taxi for about CNY 60–80 per ride. Some online packages offer station pickup for an additional fee.
Navigation, parking and travel between ski areas
Set your navigation destination to “Yabuli New Sports Committee Ski Resort” or “Yabuli Sports Training Base.” The entrance and ski rental hall are on the training-base side. Driving from Harbin takes about three hours. Parking is usually free or low-cost; check the signs on site for the fee.
Sunshine Resort is about a five- to ten-minute drive from the New Sports ski area. If you decide to enter through Sunshine instead, first check whether your ticket includes Three-Mountain access. A single-area ticket or package for the New Sports ski area should not be assumed to work in the Sunshine ski area. You will need to arrange your own vehicle to travel between areas.
Know before you go
Package inclusions and lessons
Beginner packages usually include ski equipment, ski clothing and protective gear; intermediate packages include the cable car at the prices listed above. These inclusions do not mean the ticket includes Three-Mountain access. Gloves, face masks and other accessories may cost extra, and basic ski-clothing options are limited, so shops may offer an upgrade. Bring your own gloves and face mask if possible. When buying online, check rentals, station pickup, runs covered and cross-area access item by item. Lessons cost extra.
Instructor availability and experience can vary. Arrange the lesson duration, price and skills to be covered in advance. When the ski rental hall is busy, keep track of your helmet and goggles and check equipment sizes and personal belongings when collecting your gear.
Run openings, breaks and food
Y5 is one of the intermediate runs available to visitors at the New Sports ski area. Three-Mountain access does not mean training zones, competition runs or connecting runs are all open. Check your ticket coverage and the day's notice, and ski only on runs that are open and suitable for your ability.
There are farm-style restaurants near the ski area serving dishes such as iron-pot stew and Guobaorou (crispy sweet-and-sour pork). You can also bring high-energy snacks and hot water. Yabuli is very cold in winter, and strong winds or icy runs can make skiing more difficult. Wear warm, windproof clothing and adjust your plans to the ski area's closures and operating arrangements that day.
If you have limited mobility or need to catch scheduled transport, ask the ski area or your accommodation provider in advance which areas are accessible, where to board and whether any closures are planned for the day.
